Would you let your child have this lovey?

I know stuffed animals with hard plastic eyes are supposed to be for ages 3 and up, because of the choking hazard if the eyes came loose. But of course most stuffed animals have those eyes! Amy has fallen in love with a lion. So far she hasn't insisted on taking it to bed, but I think one day she will. Should I stand firm, or just let her have it? The eyes seem very firmly attached to me -- and it's not like she chews on them. But of course I'd never forgive myself if... etc. etc.

I would but I would understand if someone didn't. However I would watch and see if those eyes were chewed on and stuff, but if they were super attached to it, it may be hard to remove. In the end you have to be comfortable with whether or not you let her have it, as it is how you will get peace of mind.

The only issue I had with something like this is Ainsley has this squirrel that was holding a nut (soft, not hard or even small enough to choke on) but she pulled the nut out of the squirrel's hands, so there I was at night, sewing the stupid nut back on. Next time it came off though, I had to sort of CIO that, I wasn't sewing it back on. The nut went bye-bye. She still loves the squirrel.
I do let my children take strange objects to bed as long as they look safe. They are pretty much beyond putting everything in their mouths.

I would but I get that people are worried about them. They can be choking hazard. That being said John has slept with a stuffed cat named Rusty since he was 18 months old that has those years. He is 5 now and still doing fine.

My guys have dog lovies with hard eyes and I've never been concerned. They don't chew on them.

I think I would. As long as your children aren't putting it in their months and chewing on it, I don't see a problem. :)

I would too. Just keep an eye on it (no pun intended) and always check that the eyes don't come loose. But, I'm sure that they'll stay put.

I definitely would NOT. There is no toy in the world worth risking my little peanuts. My girls have gotten toys with hard eyes. I pull the eyes on & stitch over the hole with thread.

    Hmm...likely not.

Get her a Vermont Teddy Bear. They have patented grip tight eyes that when they are pulled, the mechanism grips tighter so that they are impossible to pull out. And they are guaranteed for life. If it gets damaged, you send it to the bear hospital in Vermont and they repair it. You can send it in pieces or shreds. They will go to great lengths to repair your bear. If it is impossible, they ill replace it. No questions asked. They're pricey, but they're TOTALLY worth it!!
