I'm trying to decide whether or not to go to L&D to get checked out. My problem is that I am only having contractions when I set up or stand, not when I am laying down. I'm also having lots of back pain and feel like my cervix is getting headbutted. Yesterday my mom & I were out and I wasn't having contractions at all - just really uncomfortable. When we got back home, I came straight up to bed and had contractions every 8 minutes or so for a couple of hours. I fell asleep and when I woke up I wasn't having them anymore, just really uncomfortable!!! I'm 33w tomorrow and am trying to remain as calm and stress-free as possible, but I was worried enough to call DH's work and call him back from a flight to Wisc for the weekend. I don't want to overreact, but I also don't want to do nothing if I truly need help. What would you do? TIA!
Even though you are not feeling the contractions you may still be having them. I would call L&D and tell them whats going on. If it were me i would go. But you could just be feeling uncomphy because you were walking at the mall.
You may have overdone it with walking too much- that happened to me after a day at the mall with my sisters and I did go to get checked- I was admitted for a few days for observation (I was only 21 wks at the time) but I was having contractions. They hydrated me and gave me antibiotics as I had a bacterial infection. Any type of infection can cause contractions. You really should go and get checked just to be on the safe side- every 8 min is pretty frequent. good luck and let us know. Tracy Mom to Griffin & Alex :itwins_boys: 03/14/02 34wks
I agree, I would call the on-call OB or L&D & see what they say. Better to err on the side of caution! Keep us posted!!
About 3 weeks ago or so at sea world, when I was about 21 weeks, I got really bad bh contractions and it was non stop for hours....from all the walking I presume... so after that day I wont go anymore-I let my mom take my dd. Since then I only get them every few days maybe once a day toward the end of my long day.
