I am really at my wits end! My OB is new to me this pregnancy because of my breathing problems early in the pregnancy, all of which are resolved now. I am also on an insulin pump, not the biggest deal I'm told. Here's the issue, besided hammering at wanting to tie my tubes every appointment he is just not willing to take anything into consideration. I have talked to my endocrinologist, the best in the area who says we can go up to 39 weeks if everything looked perfect but usually it's better to deliver at 37-38 weeks. The baby's pediatrician who is also top of his field said, delivery at 37-38 weeks, especially with size as a factor. The baby was 5lbs. 13oz. at 32 weeks. The baby measures 39-40 weeks by palpation and fundal height. Then my blood sugars dropped way off over the weekend and the endo called my at home yesterday because this can be indicative of delivery within 2 weeks! I told my OB and he blew everyone off and because they scheduled my c-section later in the day, (well I have to be first if it's elective because I have a latex allergy and they aren't latex free) they rescheduled it two days later. At 39 weeks four days on December 5th! This is not up for discussion I am told! I didn't even go 39 weeks with my first let alone a baby this size. Add that my first active labor was really fast, I have a latex allergy which impacts the wish for a scheculed c versus an emergency, I will need to have antibiotics if my water breaks for group b urinary infection during this pregnancy and the diabetes indicating an earlier delivery may be better, and may even come anyway with the way my blood sugars look, I'm up a creek with this guy! Talking has gotten me nowhere and he'd be glad to "explain" himself to my other doctors. HELP! Any words of advice would be greatly appreciated.

Why don't you have him 'explain' then to the other drs. Odds are, he might get an earful from one of them and then change his tune. Just an idea though.....

If i was that uncomfortable with my DR I would be calling around and trying to find another OB. I totally understand the latex allergy, I have the same thing and its such a PITA! I have to tell every Dr's office and every nurse at least 3 times when I go in to get examed about it. Its a whole different story when I have to get blood drawn, the usually have the right gloves but cant find a turnecuit(sp?). I hope your able to find someone that will listen to you and actually cares!

Gosh...I think I'd be nervous to have him do my c/s regardless....if he's bullied into it, you might not have a very happy camper on your hands for surgery. I could see a doctor flat out insisting on waiting until after 38 weeks....but to push it to 39wks 5 days seems a little extreme given your circumstances. Have you asked him what procedures will be should you go into labor prior to that time??...maybe really emphasizing your previous labor experience? If you do search around you probably won't have a problem finding a doctor...lots of docs would love taking a case where the all they would really need to do is the $$ making c/s at the end of the complicated pg. It would be like cash in their pocket! I'm sure they'd still want to really evaluate the case, your file, make sure that the dates are accurate... In any case if you are going to switch I wouldn't wait too much longer... your current doctor's office might be a real pain in the tush about getting files over to the next place in a hurry.

with the boys, my insurance stopped covering my ob that i was seeing at 32 weeks. Luckily i had seen my peri as well adn they took me on as a private patient. I love them for that. But...my point is everything ended up going great and we had no complications when I delivered 4 weeks later. if you arent happy then switch. As for the issue you read and replied to of ours, i'm not going switch to b/c she's the only one that will deliver high risk at this hospital ( from what i understand) and my original peri reccomended her adn I take their word over anyone elses pretty much at this point.
