I tend to worry about everything in this pregnancy. This is my fourth pregnancy, third successful (so far). It has been about 12 years since I have been pregnant and I have only carried single babies before. This is my first pregnancy with my DH, we have been trying for a long time, with one miscarrige along the way. Well, this long story to ask you all a few questions. Is it normal to feel the babies a lot for a week or two (around 12 weeks) and then only feel them sporadically? I really get worried when I don't feel them move at all for days or more at a time. Do any of you get the occassional low back pain accompanied by some belly pain. I had my first call to L&D when my right ankle swelled up suddenly, so I slept with my ankle elevated and it was much better in the morning. I can't wait until my apt. on Wednesday to hear their heartbeats. We don't have another u/s scheduled until 20 weeks. Thank you.

We have some stuff in common...three pregnancies, a long time between..my youngest will be 11 in about a month and this is the first pregnancy with my husand..

anyways, I was worried about that too. Last week they seemed to hardly move. I was freaking. Read it could be b/c of a growth spurt. This week they have hardly stopped moving and feel the kicks stronger, so maybe they were going through a growth spurt.

Thank you ladies, I feel better for now. I feel better and then I worry again. Tis the plague of the pregnant woman.

Oh yes, tis the plague :)
I didn't feel any movement til 18 weeks (first pregnancy though) and it wasn't really consistent until 20 weeks or so. So it seems pretty early for you still. That said, I always went crazy between ultrasounds before I felt them consistently, and I still worry some now. I'm glad your appt is Weds, that's not too far off (of course it always feels farther than it is though!). Don't be surprised if they can't guarantee they're hearing both heartbeats. If they suggest they're not sure you can always ask for an u/s, that's what I did because at 16 weeks they weren't "sure" which wasn't good enough for me. We actually got to see not only the heartbeats but also the genders which was a special treat :)

I just wanted to say thank you too!! I felt the exact same worries, I feel it sometimes and then I don't! When I lay down flat on my back I can touch my stomach and feel the hardness of them which brings a smile to my face.

This is my 3rd pregnancy (only one son though… who will be 10 when my twins come) and I know after a m/c it’s easy to worry (I had mine beofre my son arrived)… BUT I wanted to let you know I’m lucky if I feel movement (and it’s more like…. “Was that gas or a little kick/roll over”) every other day… may be 2 days… so I think it might be a bit early… IMO

All I do is worry. Worry, Worry, Worry! I wish I wasn't this way... but, I am. I'll feel so confident right after an appointment or ultrasound - but within a couple days I'm back to worrying.

What you are feeling is normal. I didn't start to really feel my babies move until around 20 weeks.

Congrats on twins! This is a wonderful site for info and support.

im the same way! i felt them for a bit then its only few days a day or 2nd day and im only 16 wks too-i dont think its constant til at least 20 wks-we heard the babies heartbeat at 14 wks with the doppler:) but he had a hard time catching 2 beats to sit still;)

:hug99: It's silly to say don't worry to a pregnant mama, but I hope you are feeling better. I didn't feel as much movement wiht the twins as with DD1 (who is almost 14). Funny, huh? I thought I'd feel them twice as much. they just didn't have as much room.
Let us know how your next appt goes; I'm sure it's a long way to wait!
