My girls (just turned 3) are pretty much potty trained in that they have no accidents. They go pee-pee on their own and when they have to poo they ask for a diaper. I make them try to go on the potty and they refuse. I give them a diaper, and they go off into a corner and make their business. The day I refused to give them a diaper and really pushed the potty, they both ended up constipated. I bribe with chocolate, trips to the Disney Store, whatever, but it has not happened. They have never and will never have an poo-poo accident in thier panties, in fact, they will not even go #2 if we are out anywhere....they will wait until we come home to go.
    Advice PLEASE!!!

I don't have this issue so I don't have any specific thing to tell you that worked. But, I hear your frustration... Have you tried making them go cold turkey and give them food that will encourage them to go so they can't get constipated...they just don't have a choice?? I have a friend whose daughter doesn't like to go and she has to give her medicine and lots of stool softeners so that she will go regularly. We make a big deal about seeing the "snakes" or "meatballs". I know it's totally gross, but my DD is so proud of herself and can't wait to tell the world what she "made".

My friends son was just like your girls, what she did was to give him the diaper, but restricted where he could go. At first he had to go to his room. Then he had to be in the bathroom. Then he had to sit on the toilet, and finally, he took off the diaper and went in the toilet. It took time, but worked for her.

I had this same issue with my DD. She is newly trained and we were having problems with #2 on the potty. She refused to go at first and then would get constipated and then it would hurt. So, since my twins have baby food in the house I had a pack of prunes with apples. I mixed about a 1/4 of a container with a fruit smoothie to help with the constipation and she had to poop 5 times that day. She got over her issue quickly :)

my ds is having the same problem..won't poop on the potty... he's done it once so far...other than that he waits until after naptime before I come to get him..it's hard to catch him in the "act"..usually he poops before he even climbs out of his bed....

I wish a knew a magic trick to make it work for you.

Ethan was this way when we started training. I never gave him the diaper when he asked though. He did suffer through a couple days of constipation :( (just a day or two) but would eventually either go in the potty or go at bedtime -- which was obviously not working towards our goal!

This is TMI for some people...but we finally got something to make him feel comfortable pooping on the potty. One day dh had a tummy bug and had left a bit of, um, let's call it residual. He left a bit of residual poop in the potty, guess he didn't realize it was a two-flusher! Well Ethan had to pee and saw the bit that was left in the potty and screamed DADDY!!!! I thought he was going to flip out and decide not to use the toilet at all!!!! Instead, he raced out to dh who was resting on the couch screaming "Daddy! Daddy! You make a poot in the potty! GOOD JOB, Daddy!" and starting high-fiving dh! It's nothing I'd have planned intentionally, but cheering for daddy did the trick and Ethan's been a great pooper since

This is so timely for me. But the problem is my son doesn't give us any signs! Plus he has a delay in speech. He is finally at the point where he will reliably pee in the potty - the big one - (standing up) for me. He stays dry most of the time while in underwear. The problem is going poo-poo. He will sit on the potty, but makes no visible signs to us when he is pooping.

Lately, he loves loves loves baths. And he has been POOPING in the tub! YICK! As a form of discouraging him, I wash him up and take him out immediately.

He has also just started asking for a watch. So, I've been telling him only big kids who wear underwear, like sissy, get a watch. Special candy is just not enough of a carrot for him. He also won't "tell" us "I have to go now." We have to ask him.

They will potty train him at school. He's only been there since about the 24th of August so I wanted to give him a couple more weeks before I start sending him in underwear. Oh, also, his teacher at the public school does not want him in pullups, either diapers or underwear.

    Any suggestions
