I am currently 8 weeks pregnant with one baby. I had an ultrasound at 6w2d where they only saw one but did say it was pretty hard to get a clear picture. I am absolutely huge and have now convinced myself that they have missed a baby on the ultrasound. Did any of you have an early ultrasound where they missed a twin?

Congratulations! It is definitely possible that a twin is missed.. but once you have twins, I think they probably look a little closer! Have you talked to your OB about your concerns? I know I 'bloated' a lot early in this pregnancy.

Like Jackie said, it's probably one baby with bloating. I felt HUGE between 7-10 weeks. I was full of gass and was bloated beyond belief. It was pretty miserable feeling. It started to get much better towards the end of the 1st trimester!

Glad you are joining us and CONGRATS!

Last time they didn't find my twins until 3rd sonogram at 12weeks. Of course they were in the same sac so they didn't miss a whole sac but at 5 weeks we saw one heartbeat and at 7 weeks 3 days one heartbeat. Then at 12 weeks two babies! I too looked all over the internet to see if it was possible to miss one but after two sonograms I kind of gave up and almost fell off the table when two appeared. I had no odd symptoms except about 11 weeks I could feel my uterus stretching and morning sickness kicked in a few days before 12 weeks (right when I thought it should be over) I was hungry all the time and had a increased sense of smell but had gained no weight no sore boobs etc. This time we saw one sac at 6 weeks and just to be sure my doctor was thoroughly looking because of last time and whoop we see two of something (only one heartbeat at the time) so I go next week when I am 12 weeks to see if that other something has a heartbeat. He was kind of being a smarty pants about looking so hard and we were kidding with the assistant about him missing them last time so you can imagine the surprise when we again saw two. Again no strange symptoms so we will see. Good luck. I'm hoping one is hiding (if that's what you want) it is possible :D

I had an ultrasound at 11 weeks and only saw one baby, all of the routine blood test came back normal, then at 21 weeks, my twin came out of hiding. So, anything is possible. I hope it turns out how you want.

Anything is possible. But if they were looking closely, odds are there is just one. Most of the time when one is missed, it is for lack of looking fora second (hope that made sense). I too had only one at my 5/6 week U/S and then 2 were discovered at my 20 week U/S. I too, carried same sac twins, so it is a little different than missing a sac.
