Claire started coughing Friday, and she isn't eating all that great. She is in a good mood though. We tried to take her off the Singular since we really thought the cough was more related to the acid reflux. She had a runny nose Friday and yesterday. We started the Singular again yesterday. What is making me wonder if the Prevacid isn't working is the eating part. She is back to eating the way she did before the Prevacid. The cough is back too, but I am not sure if it is from her not being on the Singular, the Prevacid isn't working or a cold. Carlie has a runny nose today herself.

I just don't know if she should go back to the doctor or not. I don't know if those meds can stop working, and if she needs something else. I have no idea.

Anyone else deal with a child over a year old with AR?

 Poor Claire, still having to deal with reflux. I would definately call the doctor and see what they have to say. Prevacid can definately stop working. My ds was on it for about a month and it worked great, then overnight it just stopped and we moved on to other meds. Good luck.

That is about how long she has been on it. About 5 or 6 weeks. We will see how tonight goes and call tomorrow.

One of my LO has been on Prevacid for over a year now. She's been on the same dose the entire time. We tried to wean her off it a few months ago and noticed that she was throwing up more, having night wakings, eating less and her voice was hoarse. The GI doc said it was ok to put her back on it and try to wean again when she turned 2.

I don't know if it can stop working or not. Maybe Claire's getting a cold, that could explain the cough and eating less? Definitely call the MD and get their opinion.

    Hope she feels better soon.

I remember that we had issues with Prevacid stopping working for Jacob when he took it. The dosage can also change fast for little ones. Good luck - hope the doc can help! Keep us updated. :)

I will call her doc and see what he has to say, if he wants her to come in.

Prevacid worked for about a month for Piper and then we had to switch. Compounded Prilosec (omeprazole) is the medicine we found that worked. She was on it from 5 months to 18 months when we successfully weaned her. But unfortunately, the reflux came back four months later so she's back on the Prilosec. If you think Prevacid isn't working for Clarie, I'd suggest trying Prilosec.
