I was reading elsewhere that twin labour is sometimes shorter..... This is my first pregnancy and I was wondering about the length of labour for anyone who had twins in their first pregnancy/labour (because I know that labour tends to get shorter the more you do it. lol)
Basically, can you please tell me how long your labour was if twins were your first???

    thanks :)

The twins were my first babies (oldest DS is my step-son). I went into labor Sunday morning at around 6:00 am. I didn't have the babies until Monday at 4:51 and 5:01 pm (vaginally). I had a really long labor and got stuck at 3 cm. My doctor finally gave me pitocin and I went from 3 to 7 cm fast. I got the epidural at 7 cm and my water broke as soon as I got it. Perfect timing. I had a long labor but it wasn't hard for me. My sisters hate me because I tell them how labor wasn't really painful. I guess I am one of those few lucky women that don't experience a lot of pain during labor. Don't get me wrong it was painful but it was tolerable pain. I think what really helped me was the breathing exercises and having a very supportive husband. When they weren't monitoring the babies I would get out of the bed and keep moving. I think that helped a lot too.

Water broke at 1:00 in the morning approx... Ella was born at 1:01 pm, Addison at 1:08 pm so approx 12 hours! Both vaginally with the help of an epidural!

The average length of your first labor is roughly 12 hours (for a singleton), with twins it's about 10 hours (if the twins are your first babies).

These are my firsts: My water broke at 1:30am, and my DD arrived at 2:01pm and DS at 4:03pm. So 13 hours for DD and 15 hours for DS.

Induced at 37.2 for preeclampsia. Got to the hospital at 1 p.m. and started on pitocin about 2:00 p.m. Got to 10 cm at 4 a.m. (yes, 14 hours later), pushed for 1.5 hours, baby A was face up, emergent c-sec. at 5:30 a.m. I wish you the luck of the prior posts!!!!

The twins were my first pregnancy. My water broke at 830 on a Sunday morning and I delivered them by emergency C-cection at 11:47 and 11:49 on Monday morning, so a little over 27 hours of labor. I never progressed past a 6 in dialation (after given pitocin and an epi) and I spiked a fever so they had to take them by a C. I was 37 weeks 2 days.

My twin ID girls are my first babies. My water broke at 6:30pm (with the help of my nurse stripping my membranes) I was 37 weeks (full term)
for twins, and had just had an ultrasound that same day showing they weighed over 5 lbs each.
I didn't deliver them until the next day at 4:30pm, so I was in labor for 22 hours! I delivered them by emergency C-section after trying vaginally..Twin A's head was crowning, but she was comfy inside! they tried the vacuum.. try to skip that if at all possible! ended up with the C section.. Babies were both fine and healthy.. NO NICU time!

Water broke at 0230, epidural by 0500, baby A at 1001 and baby B at 1058 (the contractions slowed way down after Maya came out). So, 7-8 hours. No pain after I got the epidural, gotta love it.

First babies with bedrest at 30wks (short cervix, only 1cm), 34wks 2days woke up 4am with tightening and lost mucus plug, 5am go to hospital and was 3 1/2cm dilated and almost completely thinned out. Dr. checked me at about 9am, and was 6cm dilated and he said get ready, we're having babies today. Lily was born at 2:22pm and Michael was born at 2:25pm, both were delivered vaginally, with the epidural. So maybe 10 hrs, it was so quick and the most amazing thing you'll ever do!!!
