We've made the decision. Tomorrow is the day. DH and I are so sick of dealing with binkies. We went on a 4 hour car ride and the whole time it was drop the binky and cry. Then at 5:30 this morning, I woke up to Ainsley yelling "Bap!" (their word for binky). It's going to be hard, but we've got to do it. I have a Mom's Night Out tomorrow night, so DH has volunteered to take that first bedtime with no binkies. We're going to pack them up after nap tomorrow and send them away to new babies.

Wish me luck! This is going to be tough.

You're braver than me!!!! My girls only use their in bed and have never gotten them in the car. I'm thankful for that. I hope it goes well for you!!!

I took my son's at almost 3yo, he never even cried for it. I just told him he was a big boy and he watched me throw them in the trash. He asked once, that night when he went to bed, I told him they were gone and that was that!

I hope it goes well for you! I'll be interested in seeing how it goes! I should probably get rid of the girls pacis sometime!

good luck I am not brave enough to take away their mimi's but we live in a small apartment and all 3 of the kids sleep in the same room. They only get it at nap and bedtime so thats not to bad.
Good luck again hope it works out well.

    Good luck!!

When we took the girls pacifiers away they were around two years old. We started just taking them away during the day and letting them sleep with them. And then we gradually got rid of them at night. Kelly was unphased by losing hers. Kaitlyn looked like an addict in detox. She was not happy at all. She flipped around her bed and whined and cried. She did get over it quickly but that first night was not easy. I hope that it goes smoothly for you!

oh boy. I need to do this and just haven;t had the guts! Archer would be like Michelle's daughter in detox. He is SO addicted to his binkie. Phoebe does not use one. ugh. By age 3 it is going. I just have to get ready and build up a wall against the whining and crying that will result!

Keep me posted please on how it goes!!

It's actually happening today. They are going to go after naptime. We've been talking about it this morning, telling them how new babies need their binkies and they are big girls. After nap, we are going to gather them all up, put them in a box, and send them off. DH can tolerate the screaming better than I can, so that's why we decided to make it tonight since I'm going out. I would probably give in.

Well, it went better than expected so far. After nap, we put the binkies in a box and they kissed it goodbye. Then I took them out for ice cream for being such big girls. Ainsley whined for hers in the car, but not bad. Bea didn't even ask. DH handled bedtime, and said they whined and fussed for about 2 hrs, but it never got hysterical. So, I'm hoping it continues to go well.

Sounds like it's going pretty good. My girls had a ROUGH time of it. And we did all sorts of pomp and circumstance around it. ou

FWIW, good for you that your dh can stand their screaming/whining better than you -- in my house it's the other way around. And his whining about their whining can be nearly unbearable.

    ETA: but I love him

With my DS, I took it away around 18 months. It was really easy considering how much he loved them. I haven't even thought about when I am going to take away my girls. I am not brave enough to do it right now. I did see on the nanny show where they tied the binkis to balloons and let them go to the binki fairy.

Glad to hear that it is going good so far. We just took my girls ba's (what they call paci's) away 2 weeks ago tomorrow. We looked at the website for the sign of the moon and it was the day for weaning so we went with it. It has been great! Isabelle hasn't asked for it once. Abigayle did for a couple days but now it's nothing! I was so proud of them! They did so much better than I thought they would. The most it took them to go to sleep was an hour and that was only one night. The rest was about 15-30 minutes. Now it is just like normal! Hope it continues to go well! I think we are past it! Thank God!
