DS has been potty trained during the day since late last August. He still wears a diaper at night. Lately he has been not telling us when he poops and therefore does not get wiped. :( Any suggestions other than to shadow him 24/7? If I ask him if he went poop when he is exiting the bathroom, he will say "No, just potty." :(

He might not want help anymore and that's why he's not saying anything so I'd suggest teaching him to wipe himself. DH showed Trent the other day to "wipe & drop" and I was shocked to find he did a really good job with it.

Okay, what's "wipe and drop"? Sounds like something we can use over here...

Oh, it's just a reminder to make ONE swipe and drop it in the water (as opposed to rubbing it around and making a bigger mess or pulling the paper out to look at the poop...) He also showed him how much paper to get and how to crumple it. :good:

You could get those Kandoo flushable wipes. I might get them, I'm trying to get them to wipe their own butts instead of calling me. Bea's been potty trained for a year now, I think at least she can wipe her own butt by now! The only hesitancy I have about getting the wipes is that they will want to use a million of them and they are kind of expensive.

Ahhhh...we can definitely use it. My son generally just shakes for #1 and we run in for #2.

i'm kind of laughing about this - because in our house, it's unmistakable when cameron goes #2 - he likes to enjoy his potty time - just like his daddy! lol. so if he's in and out in 5 secs I know it's pee, but if he's in there for 5-10 minutes, we know it's poo! lol :)

I'll have to remember the wipe and drop method. I've been getting reports from daycare that Christopher has been using a whole roll of toilet paper and it's caused overflow problems. :rotflmbo:

Um, yeah... we've been using "1-2 tissue wads for solid poop, 3-4 for squishy ones". They like to examine the toilet contents anyway so it works out great that they now have a rating system. So far, no excessive tissue use.

We just use baby wipes near the potty, but I still have to help wipe them for no. 2 so I don't have much advice, just commisurating! I feel really sorry for them because they try to wipe themselves, but it never quite does the job, so one of them usually ends up complaining that their tushies hurt, and thats how I find out.

My Mom suggested wrapping the paper around their hand and then they can hold it with their thumbs and the hand is covered. You have to help with that, but I'm SO OVER WIPING THEM!!!
