wiping bottoms during PT

We've just started potty training. Karina has been wearing panties for about a week and a half and Annelise just started yesterday. I'm curious about when/how you teach little girls to wipe. Obviously they won't do a good job with poop, so I will make sure to do that for a while, but do you let them wipe themselves when they pee even if you know they won't do it well?

 

Yes, I do let DD try to wipe and then I go over it for her, showing her how to do it.

 

I didn't let them wipe starting off, I was worried they wouldn't get clean enough. In hindsight, I wish I would have. I just started letting them wipe for poops. I just couldn't stand the thought of not getting themself clean enough and walking around with an itchy tush. :bad:

 

I had my both my DD's start wiping themselves (for pee) right away. I just always made sure to tell they to always wipe from front to back and I showed them how to do it. I always wiped after them as well. For poop I didn't have them start wiping themselves until a few weeks before they went to preschool last fall because there they had to do it by themselves (the teachers would not help them). Last year at school I told them they had to wipe (for poop) 3 times, I figured that would be sufficient enough until they got home and easy for them to remember. Now they wipe themselves all the time, but I do still watch them wipe and now they know they need to wipe until they are clean.
