I am having a hard time adjusting to the cold weather. I am used to taking my 4 year old and 8 month old twins to the grocery store and other errands, but I haven't found a good solution for the twins outerwear. Sometimes I just need to run my daughter into her preschool class and I carry the twins, other times we do the duoglider.

    My troubles are:

    1. If you bundle them up for the outside, they get too hot in the carseat

    2. Too much bundling makes the carseats not as safe

    3. Too much hassle trying to wrestle them into something complicated with everyone is freezing

What do you all do? My first was in infant seat during this time, then the following year was forward facing and easier (walking) to handle getting a coat on.

My boy is HUGE and very squirmy. Love to hear your ideas!

    Thanks!

We use regular winter coats. We got really cute pink ones with bear ears on the hoods at a Gap outlet store. I don't think there's a way around the hassle of bundling them. When I put them in the car at home I don't button everything up, since we're just going into the garage. Once we get where we're going I button up the jackets and stick hats on them before I take them out of the car.

When my daughter was an infant and a toddler, I used Lands' end's fleece snowsuits. It is lightweight and the fleece is breathable. I don't think it is intended for really cold, outdoor all morning wear, but it was easier to get into a carseat than the Carter's buntings I bought for the twins.. Now they even have the fleece in a jacket and pants version, for when you don't need the all over coverage. I am about to order the snowsuit for my twins.. I like that they have foldover flaps for the hands and feet for when it is really blustery outside.bunting/snowsuit

I have fleece snowsuits for my twins. I know it's a pain to get them dressed in. I have to get my daughter to school everyday and most of the time we walk, so I need to bundle the twins up. I use the snowsuit and a hat.

It sounds like you're not using infant seats now? I'm not sure if they work on your carseats, but they have those carseat covers that zip up & cover the babies & keep them warm.

I do kinda like the pp's & use fleece stuff. It doesn't get too cold around here, though. I think it's been in the 40's lately. I usually put a fleece jacket on them in the house & warm the truck (if I remember [IMG] ). Bundle up with lots of blankets & then I can take the blankets & hats off when we're in the truck & it's warmer.

That's what we use. Here's a photo of them. My MIL made them, and I LOVE them! There's no bundling babies, no worrying about blankets being blown off in the wind, etc. And best yet, they keep random creepy people from touching your children! Seriously, I just dress them in whatever is appropriate for in the house, and maybe add a small blanket if it's super cold out. Then I strap them in and zip them up. These were handmade, but there are storebought ones, too. I'd recommend finding one w/a zipper, because then you dont' have to take the cover off all the time to get babies in and out. I've seen similar covers at both BRU and Walmart (though theirs were ugly grey).

We just got "Bundle Me" carseat inserts - they are super cozy and cute. That way I can leave the girls in their little sleepers or regular outfits and these things keep them warm when we're out (they are 2 mos old and I imagine we'll use these for the next 3-4 monthts). I got them at Babies R Us.

We have a warm fleece poncho with a hood and snaps on the sides. I snap it up to go to the car, put her in her seat and sunsnap it so I can buckle the carseat straps over just her regular clothing (I pull the back of the poncho out and leave it flipped up over the back of the carseat). I leave the poncho unsnapped and it just kinda lays over her like a blanket while we're in the car.

Works well for us! LMK if I didn't make any sense (I often don't these days) and I'll snap a picture.

We use the "Bundle Me" for the carseats. They also fit onto a stroller. They work great and are super warm. You just unzip once you are indoors and there will be no overheating. We got ours at BRU.

Great ideas ladies, I am looking up all the different options. Mine are in convertible seats now, and I use the DuoGlider for errands. I like the Bundle Me option, going to look on ebay!

    Thanks again!

I bought these furry little bear looking outfits at Old Navy (they have them in red/brown/pink/cream maybe others) They aren't to bulky but keep the girls warm. I can layer clothes under them if I need to. And they are so cute and snuggly in them.
