Does she have this internal clock set to 9 pm? It doesn't seem to matter how early or late we start our routine DD WON'T fall asleep til 9 pm or so. I've tried rocking, nursing, just being chill with her, EVERYTHING! Right now DH is upstairs trying after I tried for about TWO HOURS!! During the day she takes naps easily...I can usually lay her down after nursing semi-awake and she can suck her thumb to soothe herself, but come night time she won't soothe herself one bit and I KNOW she can! I try to lay her down after nursing and rocking to sleep and the second she hits the bed she's up and fussing! I know it isnt' the temperature of the bed, during the day it doesn't matter and I'm not ready to CIO just yet but man is she testing me! Just had to vent cause I'm about to go crazy! I know I shouldn't complain too much cause once she's out, she's out til morning just about...maybe occasionally she gets up once during the night. But still had to vent...Thanks for 'listening'

:hug99: It is so hard when they are awake so late...no downtime for mommy. I can't even remember our schedule for then and I was just looking in the schedule stickies, I didn't post it either! Probably because we didnt' have one!! Here is the link to 4 month schedules , maybe something will help you in there? Hope it gets better soon!

My twins will be 3 months next week and they aren't falling asleep until 10:15. However a month ago, they were up until 11 every night so it is gradually getting earlier. I think they will continue going to sleep earlier as they get older. The later time bedtime actually works fine for us right now because they will sleep anywhere from 6-9 the next morning. Therefore I get a whole night's sleep!

I don't think we started putting the girls down early till they were about 5 or 6 months. Up until then they went to bed at 9.

I hope that they sleep late for you...our girls go to bed at 7 but wake up at 5:45 or 6! :(

Both of my boys are exactly the same as you describe. They nap well during the day but no matter what don't want to go to sleep until around 9 pm. I was trying to get them in bed at 7 pm for a while and we just gave up since we were spending 2 hours each night on rocking, lots of nursing, crying, etc. One of my sleeps from 9 pm until 7 am so I figure that is a pretty good thing and worth having them up later at night. The smaller one usually wakes up once to feed. Hopefully they will start to move up the bedtime a bit as others have suggested. But I also think maybe some babies are just prone to go to bed later.

My guys natural bedtime was always at 9-10 PM. That is just how some babies are.

Now it works out though... they sleep until 9 the next morning!

What time do they wake up in the morning? Is it the same time everyday? You may want to try to control their wake up time, for e.g. don't let them sleep past 7a.m. Also what time is the afternoon nap? If it is too late (past 4p.m.) they will have a hard time going to bed early. Have you read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child? This book has helped many of us on this site. Hope that helps!

At that age K&K's bedtime was 10pm. That was the time we gave them their last bottle and put them down for the night. Gradually as they started sleeping later in the morning we moved their bedtime back until we reached 8 pm. We have been at 8 pm since they turned one year old.

My boys didn't go to sleep until 9-10 at that age, now they conk at 6:30-7! I think they will naturally start falling asleep earlier.

It's the age, they really can't go to bed bed until their are a little older. I would roll with that, and then slowly move it forard after they are around 6 months old. You are doing a great job! :)

Our girls were exactly the same! I used to think it was because I worked 7pm-7am and they got used to that schedule in utero...but they are now at 6 months and go to sleep around 7-8Pm every night. They sometimes will go earlier, but consisitently by 8Pm and they sleep until 7-8 am.solidly.

I think they just need the time to adjust and figure out what they need.
