    Hi everyone,
I am so nervous about going into labor at home and not knowing it. Will I know for sure if my water breaks? Will it be a different feeling than just increased vaginal fluid? Will there be blood at any time as a true indication? Help!

I don't know about everyone else but it sure was obvious for me!! It was like someone turned on a faucet every couple of minutes. There was no mistaking it for anything but my water breaking!

For me, it was a steady stream (that I couldn't make stop!) when I stood up. :)

Same here, when mine broke, it was sooo obvious. But I seriously still questioned it. If you think it may have happened, try getting into all kinds of different positions. Sometimes, the head can plug it up and if you move and the babies head comes off...a huge leak is sometimes inevitable. Of course everyone is different and if you have any serious concerns, call your dr.

For me, there was no question. Lying in bed trying to fall asleep, DS gave a good, hard swift kick, and I just felt this RUSH of water- I immediately rolled off the bed so I wouldn't soak the mattress! Good luck! :)

With my oldest DD I am pretty sure I had a small trickle during the day, I just always felt wet. Then real early the next morning 12:30am it broke and I knew that is what it was.

I am the minority. I was already in labour so maybe my mind was elsewhere but after about 10 hours of labour I asked if they were going to break my water and the nurse looked at my like I was really stupid. She said...."ummm, dear your water is already broken." Now that being said I spent HOURS in the shower because it felt good to have the hot water on my back so I didn't feel my water breaking. I guess I just thought the fluid was from the shower? I didn't notice anything at all.

You will know your water breaks... It is A LOT of fluid... It may not come in a gush, but it will be a steady stream until you deliver. You can't "hold it" like if you have to go to the bathroom...

With that said, you may go into laor without really knowing for sure... I have had 2 labors and both were totally different. The contractions for my twins were competely different from my singleton and I didn't know they were contractions until just before my water broke... BUT you will make it to the hospital! Labor is not so quick that you will miss it completely... I worried about not having enough time too, but you have more time than you think.

Mine broke when i was in the shower, so i didn't know. I got out and was dripping alittle but thought it was from shower. I went into town and did some errands. Went to the bank, took my daughter to the orthodontist.Which meant walking through town from the car park. When at the dentist, i used the restroom. Thats when i realized it was my water. I wasn't going to say anything to my dd, When she says"mom i think that your water". So needless to say we walked quickly back to the car and got home. When at home is when it started flowing Alot. On the way to the hospital i soaked my pants and my dh car.
Everyone has differant experiences. Good luck!!
