Will I contract with my singleton like I did with my twins?

Discussion in 'Pregnancy Help' started by scarlett2angels777, Apr 2, 2010.

I'm worried about having to be on bed rest at 17 weeks with my singleton like I did with my twins. I had preterm contractions all throughout pregnancy causing my cervix to shorten quite a bit. What are the odds of this happening? I hope this pregnancy will be normal!

Am I reading that right? Your twins are 3 months old and you're pregnant? Just checking because if you are, I'm seriously impressed. My poor DH would assume it was immaculate conception because I was WAY too tired and still in too much pain for that to have happened so fast, lol!

As for your question, I'm wondering the same thing. I was on bed rest for half of my pregnancy, too, but my doctors assured me that it was just the weight of the twins causing the contractions. I had a few scares recently, one in particular where I was contracting about 4-5 times an hour on and off for about 4 days. I took it easy and tried to over-hydrate and luckily they stopped on their own with no cervical changes. I've had quite a few contractions, though...seems like every night I have at least a few. It's nothing like last time where they were constant around the clock and so far they see no need for any bedrest or medication, but it does worry me. I'm sure they could just be BH, but after last time it's hard not to worry a bit! I know a lot of people go on to have singleton pregnancies without complication so hopefully that will be the case for both of us! GL and congrats!!

  2. Let me know how everything's going with the pregnancy. Hopefully your contractions stay at a minimum. I definitely know what your going through as far as being so worried about delivering early. That was very stressful for me and my family. I don't know what I'm going to do if I have to go on bed rest again with my twins being so young! I may have to hire someone to help out with them. My ideal pregnancy is to have no preterm contractions and be able to have a VBAC done!

I had more ctx with my singletons than I did with my twins. But they were definitely BH. I would contract every 3-4 minutes for hours at a time starting at about the start of my 3rd trimester. I was nervous when it first happened with Rebecca. I had never felt "real" ctx before as I was induced and had an epi with the twins. I could definitely tell a difference when the real ctx started. My two singletons were overdue for what it's worth.

  4. Wow your twins were a really good size when they were born. My girls were only 4.8 and 4.13 at 36 weeks, but luckily they didn't spend anytime in the NICU.

Well, did you see the size of my singletons?? LOL. I just make 'em that way. :D

That's interesting because I feel like I'm having more contractions (but not real productive ones) with this singleton, and I also know she's way lower than the boys were. I don't think the boys ever dropped down this far, and I'm at 36 weeks right now.
