for those of you who have/had WIC.. i have it right now being pregnant ($50/month in cheese, milk, etc.). i have to bring the twins in once their born to qualify them, but can any of you tell me a ballpark amount of how much they give you per month in formula vouchers & how many cans per month that usually helps out with & how much money left over is usually spent?? it would help a great deal - thanks!
QUOTE(mystich @ Feb 16 2008, 05:09 PM) I get 10 cans each of neosure for the boys so 20 total thanks, how long does that usually last?
I get 9 cans each of Similac Soy. That allows each of them 32oz. a day. DD takes 30oz. and DS 34 so it works out. The problem is DD will only drink store brand soy and they will not provide that. I have a lot of Similac Soy here I am hoping she will drink some time soon. If not, I will have to return it. We also get 10 boxes of cereal for them each month and 4 cans of juice. Hope this helps. Basically, I would say it covers all of what they need or close to it.
I breastfeed DS and bottle formula feed DD. I get the milk, cheese, eggs, juice, cereal, peanut butter for breastfeeding and for DD I get 10 cans Enfamil AR. I have not ran out of formula so far. She drinks about 32 oz. a day.
We get 10 cans per baby..It lasts all month no problem and while breastfeeding I got all the cheeses milk ETC.
We get 10 cans per baby. Here they only do similac but I get enfamil enfasure because the doctor writes a prescription for that. We lierally have a stockpile so I'd say you usually wouldn't have to buy any.
Yes, you will need to take them in. And you will also have follow ups every now and then. We get 20 cans a month of Soy powdered.
When I was on WIC we received 16 cans of 13 oz concentrate of Good Start Soy per girl twice a month. Never ran out, as a matter of fact we usually had one or two cans left every time. I had an old WIC voucher that I looked at--my memory isn't that good.
When the boys were on formula we received about 16 cans of Alimentum powder a month ($25 a can) and it was plenty I only remember having to buy an xtra can once or twice, A can of powder last about 3 days. They started out on regular Enfamil and that was 16 cans a month per child which would of also been plenty but they were on Alimentum by 2 months. You should rarely have to buy xtra. We had two checks a month that was for formula, cereal, cheese, eggs, beans and juice...the other two checks a month were formula and juice.
Here is Mississippi, this count is for both of our girls together, and below the count is for each child. From birth on up we get 5 cases of 12-13ounce cans and 2 extra cans (all concentrate) for both of our girls at 4 months we got the formula and 6 boxes of rice or oatmeal cereal At 6 months we got the formula, 6 boxes of cereal, and 4 - 32 ounce bottles of juice of our choice. I can't remember what we will get at 9 months. At 1 year each child will get up to 36 ounce of cereal (such as Life, Corn Flakes, ect), a case of milk (12 boxes of 2% plus 4 more boxes) Chocolate milk is optional, Sliced cheese (there are 4 kinds to choose from: sliced, monteray, block, and string), 6 cans of Welches juice (there are 7 choices), 1 jar of peanut butter or one small bag of beans of choice (there are 4 different kinds: black beans, red beans, black eye peas, and lima beans), choice of 3 16 ounce boxes of liquid or 3 packets of powdered eggs (I love the liquid!), and 2 to 6-13 ounce cans of condensed milk. We don't get vouchures here. We have to go to the WIC pick up center and they type in our order and they pick the order like you would walking through the store and then they count it out for you to make sure that you have every thing you asked for. Then you sign your duplicate receipt and you take your things to your car. I remember the vouchure days and I hated those things. You never enough for the entire month. I hope that this helps! What do you have to do to get WIC vouchers?? It's something I've thought about as the cost of formula is killing our budget. Does it vary from state to state?
You have to qualify by your income and it does vary state to state here is a link to New Hampshire http://www.dhhs.nh.gov/DHHS/WIC/default.htm it is a trememdous help!
