Why would someone say THIS?

First trip to store w/my 3 wk old twinies. In line, lady ahead of me oohing and ahhing the twins. Then she says to me, "and you don't look THAT bad." I just smiled...didn't say thanks....laughing about it now...and just had to share.

 

Yeah with those kind of comments, you know they mean well and are trying to make a compliment (at least to them it sounded like one) but to you it comes off differently. Just brush those off with a simple smile

I got one today that was similar, "looks like you are starting to recover." Hmmm...Not sure how to take that. My babies are 4 months old, and I am only starting to recover?

 

I think there is a big misconception that you should look like the hunchback of Notre Dame after having twins or something.

 

I would say they probably meant sleep. I can remember Molly being a few days old, someone asked how old she was and I answered and they said, no wonder you look so tired. Hmm, could it be the bags under my eyes, the ratty hair or the dragging feet. I think they think they are being supportive but nope, not at all.

 

I got very used to the whole smile - thanks but no thanks kind of feeling...
I hated that people would still ask me if I was expecting from 1 week til 2 months after the boys were born. The worst was when I was pushing them in the stroller (and they confirmed that the babies were VERY young), so it was pretty obvious that I wasn't expecting again so soon. My best friend was very sweet to tell me that it's because my body looked awesome and my "belly" was so low and small. I guess I was grateful for that... ha ha

 

yeah got comments this weekend as well... oh twins... boy and a girl. She is the chunkier one. She looks like you. <_< Thanks

Stupid People bred a lot like 45-70 years ago... I have come to this conclusion.

 

People amaze me sometimes. I think they want to say *something* but don't know what to say and end up blurting something out.
