my dh was wondering why as soon as the girls are in their miracle wrap and winding down to sleep they cry.
we hold them and rock them but no matter what they will cry for about 5' and then their breathing will slow down and they will slowly fall asleep.
i assume there is an explanation for this. any ideas?

I'd like to know this too! I have to just put DS in his crib and let him fuss til he's asleep. I only pick him up when he starts crying hard (too little to CIO). DD is pretty good at going to sleep. DS gets really whiney in the evenings and sometimes NOTHING will settle him! So, in the crib he goes to fuss by himself. I can only assume it's his way of putting himself to sleep.

The only thing I can suggest for you is that your girls might be done with swaddling. Perhaps they cry for those few minutes because they can't wiggle? My babies are both wigglers and I haven't been able to swaddle them since about 1 week old! I use the grobags on occasion, but they much prefer just having a blanket on.

Mine do that as well. They are happy go luck while I am getting them ready for bed. Once they realize that they are in their cribs and it is time to sleep they start crying. It only lasts for a few minutes, sometimes seconds. I think it is just part of their wind down process. They cry and they comfort themselves sucking their thumbs.

You know my kids did this when they were young too. Thats why my oldest slept with us.. With the boys I just did what you all do. Let them fuss for a little bit and they go to sleep. Actually my one boy will still do this occationally. I really dont know why. I think there just ticked that mommy and daddy arent by them anymore.. Not sure just my two sense! [IMG]

Both of my boys will fuss a little before they go to bed/sleep in their crib. I'm not sure why they do this. When they're way overtired, it's the worst.
