Just thought I'd share the experience of my first outing with my boys.....

After around a month of no shopping, I decided that I'd take my boys and my mum (visiting from interstate) out clothes shopping.. All was going smoothly, the boys were behaving, found some nice clothes etc etc. When it comes time to leave, we get out to the car only to find that my central locking wasn't going to let me into the car. [IMG] As you can imagine, I started to panic, so I ring my DH who brings out some batteries to change on the locking remote with no luck..... By now my tears have started, the boys are crying and I have my DS to pick up from school. With time running out, baby seats in my locked car, I send DH to pick up my son from school, in the meantime (while crying my eyes out) I organise a mobile locksmith to break into my car for me and get the immobiliser turned off.

Finally we make it home and I can relax and get the boys settled down.

What a way to start out, anyone else ever have these dramas??????

Oh my goodness, figures it had to be on your first adventure right? I am glad it worked out but sorry to hear about the ordeal. Kinda makes me glad my car is soo old I still have to put the key in the lock to unlock it.

I'm just proud of you for getting out with 2 week old twins. It was months before I ventured out! Way to go and what a story to tell

I'm so sorry that your car ruined your great day! I hope this doesn't scare you away from any future outings!

Wow for going out at 2 weeks old. I am sorry you had such bad luck we a few random things when the girls were younger. Now it is almost like second nature and I always give myself extra time in case something goes wrong.

You poor thing! But good for you for going out!

I have a similar story to relate. When the girls were about 4 weeks old, I took them to Target. Everything was great - the girls slept in their carseats the whole time, I got in and out of there ... and then I got to the car and realized I locked my keys in the car, along with my cell phone. I went back into Target, called my dh at work from the customer service desk and sat and waited for an hour for him to come rescue us. I got a Starbucks, I shopped around some more, I signed us up for photos. All the while my girls were still sleeping. I knew that when they woke up they would be hungry and I had this plan to nurse, and then buy formula and water if I had to supplement (if you're ever stranded, Target is a great place to be). When my dh didn't show up, I called him again, finding him in a panic because he could not find the spare key anywhere. I convinced him to just come to the store and we could buy two carseat bases at the store and load everyone up (again, Target is a great place when you're in need!). By the time he got there I realized what an idiot I was - I didn't lock the keys in the car. They were in my purse, along with my cell phone, so all that waiting was for nothing. I went home and the girls exploded in hunger as soon as we pulled into the driveway, so I got lucky! I think it was post partum hormones that made me lose my mind for a little bit! [IMG]
