Why do so many sleep in a recliner?

I keep noticing posts that gals sleep in their recliners a lot toward the end of their twin pregnancies. Is it because of heart burn? Lung capacity making it hard to breathe? I'm wondering what I have to look forward too. My recliner isn't very comfy.

That's what I've heard...that heartburn is horrible and breathing is much more difficult to lay flat, not to mention, uncomfortable! I need to get me a recliner very soon. I have nothing but my flat, hard bed to sleep in for now. I'm almost 21 weeks, and know I will be needing something different to sleep in soon!

Part of it is the heart burn/acid reflux, part of it is that I don't sleep well on my left side completely flat. I'm currently on modified bed rest in the hospital and I have the bed set up similar to a recliner. It helps take some of the weight off my hips too.

For me, I just could not get comfortable in the bed and the recline was the only place that seemed to give my hips a break!

I slept in the recliner mainly because I had insomnia and didn't want to wake DH. It also seemed to help the pain I would get in my legs. At the end, sleeping is uncomfortable, no matter where you are. I slept in the recliner after the c section b/c it was easier to get out of than my bed.

the recliner (or similar position) still puts too much strain on my hips & bum BUT that said, dh and I have been sleeping in separate beds for about a month now- I need so much room for all the pillows and such & he snores like crazy so by the time I'd get cozy again I couldn't fall asleep due to the noise-- so another week of sleeping alone- then my dad & stepmom will be here and I may have to opt for the couch or recliner if my twins aren't out yet.
