I called my doctor today because I lost my mucous plug yesterday and wanted to know when contractions start how soon should I leave for the hospital (we are 40 minutes away and are having a C-section) And the nurse acted as If I were dumb. "Just because you lose your mucous plug doesn't mean you are in labor." Hello I have had 3 boys prior to the twins. I just wanted to know if it was the typical 2 minutes apart or because it is twins and my 4th pregnancy to go sooner. I told her I know I am not in labor. I know what labor feels like I am just nervous because of the distance and my husband working an hour away from me during the day and another 40 minutes away from the hospital.

All that aside anyone lose there mucous plug how long after did you go into labor?

I guess they figure since they are educated formally in specific areas they know best, which is not always true.

Just wanted to say - I completely understand how you feel. The nurses that have called me have no sympathy.

Are you ready for your babies to be here? How are you feeling?

I lost mine and had my son 72 hours later....and I only had contractions for 2 hours before he was here! some of the nurses have had the formal training...but no on the job training...they have never given birth! those are the ones that crack me up...telling me how things "feel" how do they know??

Good luck! I hope it all goes smooth for you!

I think the nurses deal with SO many people who aren't really sure what is going on, they automatically start in thinking you dont' know anything!!

I lost my plug and went into labor a few hours later!

I lost my plug with my oldest and had her 2 weeks later. I was disappointed because the nurse at the OB told me it would be for sure within 72 hours.

I went into labor about 24 hours after I lost my mucous plug with my singleton.

I lost my mucous plug 2 days before having the boys, but I never actually went into labor... They were born via c-section at 36 weeks due to signs of TTTS, so I may have had them a little later anyway
