Why do my twins keep failing NSTs?

I'll be 35w as of this Thursday and am pregnant w/ identical twins. Last week I was feeling decreased movement so my OB sent me to L&D for a NST and monitoring. Baby B failed the NST but passed the BPP they did (after 2 tries) and I was released. I went back today for another NST and this time BOTH babies failed but ended up passing the BPP... although it took Baby A two u/s's to pass the BPP this time around. Why do they keep failing the NSTs? My OB told me last week at my appt that she thinks my peri might decide at my appt this Friday to just schedule them for delivery now. We've had a very bumpy pregnancy w/ a TTTS scare at 18w and IUGR & fluid issues since.

At our last growth scan (we get them bi-weekly due to the IUGR), Baby A weighed an estimated 4lbs11oz and B weighed in at 3lbs12oz. If they do come this weekend, I'll be 35w and a few days... that's a decent gestational age for twins right? I'm so afraid of having to leave them behind in the hospital.

Anyway, why do babies fail NSTs? I've only had 2 so far and they've failed both!!!

Full term for twins is 37 weeks so I wouldn't worry too much about them being born at 35 weeks, I am sure there are loads of moms on here who had their babies at 35wks. If I am not mistaken they fail the NST's either because you are contracting (you may not feel the spasms that much) or they didn't "perform" enough for the tech (maybe they were sleeping, you weren't positioned right...I always had to lay to my left side or Baby A would move that much) If they continue to fail and they believe they need to considering you had a few bumps they may decide to take them early,or they may keep you on bedrest for the remainder of your pregnancy ... you made it far so I'm sure everthing will go well...GL!

My babies seem to "fail" the nst's also...Baby A seems to co-operate more than baby B. All in all.. I think its very vague. Sometimes my nurses can't find either hbs; let alone try to keep them on the moniter.
I wouldn't be too worried that you will be having them this weekend. I know the best way for them to check there hb's might be an u/s.

Everything will be alright though, even if they are born at 35 weeks.

As long as they are passing the BPP's, I wouldn't worry too much. We failed the NST's a couple of times and had to go do the BPP's also. A BPP is more accurate in determining the well-being of the babies. :hug99: You are almost there!!

I just wanted to let you know that I had my girls (identical, mono-di) at 35 weeks 4 days and they didn't need any special care. They came home with me after two days.
And I never ever had an NST!

Hang in there, every day inside counts so just try not to worry (I know, that's impossible...)

Hang in there! My boys never failed but it took hours sometimes to get a good readout for the NSTs. It is hard to keep track of two babies on the monitors. I think your babies are stubborn from the get go! If you have them any day now, they will be fine but may need some NICU time. Key word SOME. I had my boys at 35w5d and they were perfect with NO NICU. Just hang on as long as you can. every day in is good for them!!!
