Why do I even spend money on toys?

Yesterday the favorite things to play with were an empty Lipton ice tea mix container (the bottom is metal, so it's like a mirror!) and my wallet. Other days it will be my cell phone and shoelaces (tied, attached to my shoes, on my feet). Plus, if I would give them a newspaper, they would happily eat it for hours, but I figure since they aren't goats, I probably shouldn't do that!

    :)

Tupperware, pots & pans & food storage containers work very well too! :winking0009:

Totally! I could have written your post! I've bought them all kinds of cool toys, but here are some of their latest favorites:

    -tupperware
    -Mom's sneakers
    -measuring spoons
    -regular spoons
    -clean dry yogurt cups
-pumping bottles and caps, spare Medela parts

    And so on...

My girls favorite things - my belt - I do not use the rest room by myself anymore - and both girls will come in and fight over who gets to chew on the buckle - while I'm sitting on the toilet! Shoes of course - on feet or not - they especially love to taste the bottoms  empty water bottles!! utter facination - of course the never ending facination with the trash. Oh - can I mention vertical blinds?? It's amazing to watch my girls inspect things - crease their little eye brows in facination and wonder when they look at something new or the upside down toy etc.

    i totally agree!

Especially about the newspaper. They LOVE that if I woudl let them have it for more then 1 second! I work for a newspaper too so I've even brought home paper without ink just so they can play a little longer without turning all inky!

How about the box the toys you just gave them came in? My kids could have cared less about all the toys they got for Christmas. The box and the wrapping paper was all they needed. My DS will pull out every lid in my tupperware drawer and push them around everywhere. We spend about 20 minutes after they go to bed looking for all of our lids because he has pushed them into every room of our house.

I completely agree too. My girls LOVE to shred tissue paper now. Another favorite when they were younger was some dry pasta, or beans, in an empty water bottle. I taught them to "shake their booty" by doing this. :D

Sean likes to slip on his sister's pink Cinderella Crocs. He'll strut around the house all day in them. James is fascinated by silverware. I can't unload the dishwasher while he's around because he'll run off with all my spoons and forks. They both think those plastic tabs on bread bags are the neatest thing.

I was just talking to one of my friends about this yesterday. I can have twenty toys scattered all over the floor and they head straight for the wires from the TV or to the heating vents or pretty much any cord they can find so I spend most of my day saying NO and moving them away from things they aren't supposed to touch. They LOVE the plastic tops to the gerber food containers, they will play with them all day!

Mine love dvd cases, empty wipes containers, and pushing and pulling the door. Paper is also a nice treat!
