actually, this is more a 'whoa, bedrest really works!" thread....I've been on it since last tuesday and had a dr. apptment today. It was so exciting to get out of the house put on actual clothes instead of the same t shirt and flannel sleepy pants.

So i asked my dr. if i could increase my 'up time' from 15 minutes to 30 just tonight, as i was having somebody come by and take some pictures -which was originally supposed to happen the day after i got put on bedrest.

fast forward four hours; we had friends come by with dinner (SO nice!) and then my brother arrived from florida to help us set up the nursery, paint and do some other stuff in the house...i checked my bp and it was
    196/174!!!!!!!

I didn't tell my dh, just asked him to bring me the phone so i could call the doc if i needed to; I lay down on my side and within FIVE MINUTES it was down to 132/75.

I think i' ve learned my lesson; that number scared the C**P out of me!

OMGoodness...dont get up again. Next time please call your doctor, you could easily have a siezure and that would be bad, horrible for you and the babies. Actually come to think about it, you need to call your doctor. Regardless of how your bp is now, you need to have labs run again...the normal cutoff before you need to go to the hospital for monitering is 140/90...and yeah yours was way too high adn way to scary. Please dont chance your life on this one..call

Yikes!! Are you sure you took it correctly? My bottom number was almost up to 100 after delivery and the nurses were freaking. They almost didn't let me out of the hospital. Please please be very careful!

That is an incredibly dangerous BP! I certainly hope it was an error. Yikes. That's not just seizure territory, that's STROKE territory.

I think the bottom number was a typo. I think a BP like that would have landed you in a casket. Regardless, stay in bed, take it as easy as possible, and monitor your BP closely.

I'm pretty sure it was correct; i totally freaked myself out. But it went right down, i went to sleep but when i woke at 5 am i was thinking about it and worrying if i had done someting horrible to my babies, and of course it spiked again, so i lay here and very consciously did slow and deep breathing and it came right down; it's been down all day (although of course i just checked and it's 151/79, probably because i'm freaking out again.

Of course i will now be crazy with worry....i have an nst tomorrow and they've been moving nicely, but - i'll probably call my dr, especially if it doesn't drop again soon.

Please call your doctor now, preeclampsia can cause more problems than you know. The simple fact that your bp is getting higher and higher, even if its just because you were up, it means the disease is progressing. You need to have labs and a urine check done now...please this is coming from someone who almost didnt make it through pree [IMG]
