always crying when they wake up? Weather it is a nap or from the night, they are always crying when they wake up. I am just wondering if anyone else's twins do this and if you know why it happens. This has pretty much always been like this since they have had some sort of schedule. Thanks.

Lorien ALWAYS cried when she woke up (from naps and in the morning) until she was about 14 months old. Now she cries about 40% of the time that she wakes up (usually from naps). I still don't know why she does it. Arwen never cried when she woke up until a couple of months ago (go figure). I think they are sometimes disoriented when they wake up and just want to see our face. Sometimes I think she wakes up crying because she is hungry and sometimes I think she wakes up crying because she sleeps in funny posistion that may cause part of her body to hurt or feel funny (like her hand is asleep or she slept on with her knees folded in so they hurt a little?). Just some guess and won't really know until they can TELL me why they are crying. By then it will probably stop

I don't know but maybe it's because you go to them when they are crying? If you think that might be the case, my suggestion is to NOT go to them when they wake up crying. It is also likely that they are still tired anyway, if they are crying. Go to them when they are awake and chattering instead and soon (eventually) they will do that to signal you to come. Which is much more pleasant.

My guys do it too. Almost always. Its just their personalities. John did it too. Sometimes its just one of them. Sometimes its both. I think its pretty normal. They probably miss you and when they wake, you aren't there. :)

ETA: I do not go to them when they cry either. They usually sit in there and cry for a good 20 minutes, depending on how busy we are.

My twins cries in the morning when they wake up for about 15 minutes and then they start talking to each other from their crib. Justin does not play with hs crib toys like Rianna does to keep herself busy until one of us go get them. Sometimes they have a good reason like wanting to have their diaper change. When we walk in their eyes lit up with exciting to see us every morning too <wink>

I've noticed a clear pattern with my guys. They only cry when they haven't gotten enough sleep. When they wake well-rested, they chatter happily. So, if they wake early and they're crying, I wait a couple of minutes because they will often go back to sleep and wake later as the happy boys I know. If it's time to get up and they're crying or if they didn't go back to sleep after a few minutes, I just know to put them down early for their nap. Whatever their wakeup is like, I go in with a big smile and greet them with our "song" because we like wakeup to be a happy time.

The girls do it randomly. Sometimes I think it is because they weren't ready to wake, sometimes I think it is because they slept to long. Mia tends to like to wake Emma up when she gets up so Emma is usually crying more than Mia.

My kids have ALWAYS done it. It used to drive me crazy. Everyone would always be talking about how their kids were talking to each other after naps and in the morning. I always thought "What is wrong with them?" Since, I'd say about 15-18m they got better. After 18m, I quit going in AS SOON as they cried. Now they play, talk to each other, fuss a little, BUT not that FULL blown crazy crying, kwim? Thank goodness!! Plus, once they really start saying Mommy and Daddy on a regular basis, they'll SCREAM that instead of crying.
