Why are some parents so inconsiderate?

I am so frustrated right now!!! One of the main reasons I breastfeed the boys is to provide them with antibodies to help fight things that come around. We have made it 11 months without sickness - until now!

The other Sunday a girl was in church in Sunday, and then that evening was in the hospital with Rotovirus! Then the next week a girl was in church and went to the hospital with RSV - all of these babies are in the boys class. The boys seemed to be doing fine, and had not caught it - however I was still upset that these parents brought there kids knowing they were sick. I know that they didn't realize they were that sick, but the symptoms of something were there - a cold or what have you!

WELL - On Monday I offered to keep our pastors son during the day. She drops him off and has she is leaving she tells me that he was up all night and the day before having diarrhea and throwing up. And that her husband had to stay home b/c of it as well. I was so upset, but didn't say anything. When I changed his diaper that day he still had diarrheish. That day her husband had to go to the hospital because he got so sick and had to get fluids! I was so upset and just prayed that the boys wouldn't get sick.

Well, that night and next morning Jeremiah had 102 fever. I took him to the doctor and he has an ear infection and the Dr. said it could be the beginning of the rotovirus!!! When I got him home his temp spiked to 104! We gave him a bath and cooled him down and got it back down. Now Michael has been running a temp and not eating well.

So far, I haven't seen signs of the rotovirus and hope we can dodge this bullet with fluids, meds, and rest!

When I called the woman and told her about it she said "I bet they have it" - no apology, nothing.

So frustrating!

I'm sorry they brought their sick kids to church and to your house. <_< That is inconsiderate of them. I'm hoping that this is the end of your boys being sick and it doesn't come to anything more.

 <---- exactly what my face looks like right now! I guess I understand if your child is carrying a virus that you don't know about, but the pastor's son story just put me over the top! I won't let me boys around other kids if they just have a runny nose! I can't imagine all the germs your boys have been exposed to. I don't know anything about Rotovirus, but it doesn't sound good! I hope the boys are feeling better soon and that they don't get too sick!

I'm going to be contrary and say the sick kid at your house was the only inconsiderate one. It's up to the nursery school teachers at the church to set a policy on how sick is too sick, not the other parents.

Sorry you are dealing with sick kiddos now due to others' lack of consideration. Hopefully they will quickly be on the road to recovery.

I am going to have to agree that the only one who was inconsiderate was the parent that dropped the child at your house. However, had she told you he was sick vomiting and diarrhea I would have told her you couldn't risk your children getting sick. As for people not taking their children out because of cold symptoms, most would be home 80% of the time. I am sorry that your babes are sick!

I would be very irritated that your pastor's son was sick and then they let you babysit without him being totally well. This I would consider more than just inconsiderate, it's down right rude!
As for the parents of the kids in the nursery I would be irritated, but I've been on the other side of it as well.
We got in the car to drive to a Christmas party and the boys were both okay, Jack had a bit of runny nose, but it was clear and since he was teething we didn't think anything about it. We had an hour and a half drive and we timed it so the boys would nap on the drive there. Once we arrived we carried the boys into the house, both still sleeping and got them out and handed them off to the grandparents. A short while later after they woke up we realized they both had pinkeye. I was mortified! We left, but by that time the damage had been done, so I can understand that things happen, but if they had any inclination that their kid was sick they should have stayed at home.
