The other day dh and I were thinkng that their sneakers seemed a little small. They are a size 7, and their winter boots are a size 7 too. Just a few months ago they were in a size 6, so I thought the 7s would be a good fit. WELL we decided to go to a good old fashioned shoe store and they measured their feet. John is now a size 9 and Gabe is an 8.5! [IMG] I can't believe the growth spurt! Anyway I feel terrible that I've been shoving their big feet into 2 sizes too small shoes! We bought a pair each of beautiful new shoes (I can't believe how much they cost--I usually buy discount or secondhand, but figured this was a good investment! I hope they last!)

Kids are always curling up their toes so its hard to know what size the are in. Glad you got some new ones now.

I bet they will be alot happier once they get used to having big feet again.

I worked in a shoe store and that is so common. Kids that age are just to young to complain that their feet hurt.

I'm so paranoid about their shoes being too small!!! I take mine to Stride Rite like once a month to get measured! Of course sometimes I think the measurement varies depending on which employee is doing the measuring! Mine have yet to jump more than half a size. I can't believe yours grew so much so quickly! Glad to hear you got them comfy new shoes [IMG]

That's so common because kids grow so fast. That's one reason why I liked the Preschoolians shoes so much. They have a little window in the bottom so you can make sure they fit correctly. I also bought a home shoe sizing device so I can check the fit on the pairs of traditional shoes they have that relatives bought for them. My 8 year old cousin just went through a similar growth spurt and she's old enough to complain that her shoes hurt her but no one believed her because they had just bought the shoes a couple months earlier. Lo and behold, my aunt took her in to get measured and she had grown 2 sizes suddenly. [IMG]

OMG!!! This just happened to us this weekend. I have been shoving Henry's feet into a 7, when he is a 8.5!!! I felt sooo bad!

I agree that thisis pretty common. I typically by Strid Rite's byt also by other brands. When I last took them in to Stride Rite they were measuring a whole size bigger as well. You are not alone! Also, Stride Rite recommends getting a 1/2 size bigger for "growth", like for instance is they truly are a 7 they would recommend a 7.5.

You are not alone!! I did the same thing to my older kids!!!

They actually hated the new shoes that fit correctly because they were used to the tight ones.

It took a while for them to get used to the correct fitting shoes.
