I really wants the girls to eat whole wheat bread and I've read if you only give them whole wheat they will probably like it as opposed to white. I know that wheat is a no no the first year, but when is it really safe to introduce it? The girls are almost 11 months and I'm itching to try it, along with phasing in milk.

Mine had whole wheat toast starting at 8 months! I haven't given any of my kids white bread, I think it's all in what they get used to. Good luck!

Mine had only whole wheat. It was when they had grilled cheese and I think that was around 10 months.

Did I read this right? Whole wheat bread at 6 months? Mine are just getting used to stage 1 baby food and infant oatmeal!! They'd have no clue what to do with a piece of bread!

Yes, you read this right. My children seem to be pretty advanced on the food side. We started solids at 4 months, skipped the rice/oatmeal because they couldn't care less (same with my oldest). We started with stage 2 because consistency wise it's exactly the same as stage 1 (we just did all the single foods first, usually the ones they have in stage 1 as well). They're now 9 months and completely on table foods although I prepare their food seperately (they don't eat what we eat but we eat later anyway). No more jars or purees. My oldest was the same. They were all born full term and had very healthy weights. No allergies in the family either.

We started whole wheat bread around 10 months if I'm remembering correctly.

I can't remember when I started with my son, but it is a great idea never to give them white bread. All Gregory has ever known is wheat. He's 5 and still loves peanut butter toast for breakfast (with milk and fruit of course).

White bread is also more of a choking hazard because of the consistency especially when "wet".

We started when they were 8 months old (perhaps a bit earlier even). We tried wheat cereal first, that was no problem so we offered whole wheat toast in the mornings and they love it. Also when we give them pasta, it is only ever whole wheat.

I started with whole wheat bread and to this day, my girls prefer the taste over white bread. I think I started them on bread around 10 months.

About now, 8.5 mos. I'm searching around for good finger foods and they like little pieces of bread. I feel like I'm feeding little birds, LOL.

A couple months ago we went to Outback Steakhouse and Ainsley was sitting on my lap sucking on a piece of their bread. She loved it and screamed bloody murder when I tried to take it away. Bread Good!!!!!!!

Ha! I love it! I was just telling DH he looks like he's feeding birds, the way he tears off the bread and tosses it on their trays...

Mine love bread too. I started giving it to them last month sometime, so about 9 1/2 months. This morning, I gave them some "Blueberry Crumble" bread from Sara Lee. The scarfed that down!

We never really gave them white bread. We started breads at probably 9-10 months. We have done wheat, oatmeal, or whole grain breads (I just made sure not to get any that had nuts).
