When you switched from formula to cow's milk, did you give it cold or heat it up? Is it a gradual process? thx

I always give it cold, I was never a person that warmed bottles either back when they were on formula. They drink it fine with no problems.

    Cold.
    They didn't seem to mind.

I switched gradually starting at 11 months. I replaced one ounce of formula with one ounce of milk for a week, then two ounces, then three...and after a month or so we were at 100% milk. So I guess the temperature change was gradual too, since I gave them room temp or slightly warm formula.

Since we were still mostly bottles at that time, I still warmed it up a bit, but began to give it less and less warm each time to eventually it was cold.

We warmed it up for a while, but it started to be a pain. Once we saw that they didn't mind it being cold it was cold from that point forward.

I heated it for a while. Then, at day care, they were given their milk cold and it was fine for them, so then I stopped heating it at home. I'd say try giving it to them cold because it's so much easier for you. They might be just fine with it. If they aren't, then you could heat it for a while but try to work towards not doing that (as PPs suggested). Also, even if they don't like it cold at first and you end up heating, every now and again try giving it to them cold. Sometimes kids just need a little time before they will accept things. Don't assume that jsut because they didn't drink it cold at first that they forever won't.

We switched to whole milk at 12 months. Always gave milk cold. We gradually mixed the formula with the milk until the formula was gone (over the the last week or so, right after they turned 12 months).

Warm - I have read that heating it a bit helps break down the nutrients & vitamins. Our girls will drink it cold if they need to but we heat it up the majority of the time.

Cold, we also never heated up the bottles either. Just gave them room temp water. Well my girls we heated bottles for a while but by the time we switched to milk we weren't heating them anymore. My son we never heated.

I gave both of my twins' cold milk. From bottles to sippy cups (I used soft nuby - take&toss) for a while almost because it is almost like their old bottles. I gradually start using hard sippy cups with valve later (because some babies can't suck very well). The last transition is straw cups. They enjoy playing with the straw afterward which drive me nut when I take it away. It took a while but they no longer have those crazy meltdown. :)

    Good luck!
