Whole milk

Just a few quick questions:

When did you introduce whole milk? Did you do it in stages i.e. one meal at a time or just stopped formula cold turkey? Any other advice on switching to milk??

 

we started switching around 10.5 months. They got a bottle of formula in the am and in the pm, but during the day it was whole milk from a sippie (we never mixed formula and milk or anything like that). At 11 months dd went to milk full time cold Turkey, ds at 12 months.

 

We switched on their birthday- the doctor had said we should wait until 12 months but to wait until the formula was finished. We switched cold turkey because we were out of formula. At 18 months the doc said to switch from whole to our regular milk- but my girls are in thee 95% & 97% for weight. When we made the switch to whole milk they had no reaction at all, but we were pretty lucky. Good luck!

 

we started making the switch at 11.5 months. i mixed half milk, half formula for a few days and then realized that it tasted worse than straight formula so i went to 100% milk and they have loved it ever since.

 

We switched cold turkey the day after getting the go ahead from their doc at their one year visit. They never even seemed to register that it was different.

 

We made the switch at 11 months. We started off with half formula and half milk and we would decrease the amount of formula until we were totally out of the formula and they were on whole milk.
Mine had a couple of days of resisting milk at first and someone on TS suggested that I flavor it with a little bit of syrup to ease the transition, it did help. Good luck!

 

We introduced whole milk just after they turned one. I started offering it to them in one of their daily sippies [mostly to see if they had any sort of reaction to it]. I found that Rose has a sensitive tummy and too much whole milk makes her constipated [poor thing ] so I now give them 2% milk and give them one flinstone gummy during lunch. I continued this for about two weeks [they didn't like the taste at first] and then I began replacing a bottle of formula with a sippy of milk every other day [we were on 4 bottles/day]. It took about a week to completely transition them off of bottles.

The way I saw it.. Formula goes in bottles, regular milk doesn't. So, once we ran out of cans of formula they didn't get any more bottles. I was so relieved to find they did well with the transition. I didn't tell them what I was doing, nor did I congratulate them on getting off the bottle. I just did it silently and they managed it w/o any fuss!

We started whole milk at 12 months. I mixed it with formula at first but mainly because we had a whole can of formula left over and I didn't want to waste it. We tried mixed and pure milk at different feedings and they didn't seem to know the difference. By 12.5 months they were getting whole milk only.

 

I ALWAYS had problems with my ds and the formula... e switched to whole milk after the 1 year appoinment and
used sippies I was afraid he woudn't drink enough... fortunately I was WRONG. He loves his milk and sippies,
dd drinks anything

 

We switched at one year, cold turkey.

 

About 3 weeks before we started adding it to their bottles just to see if they'd have any reaction/get them used to the taste. When they were 1, they were completely on milk and never looked back. Another transition I worried about and nothing bad happened
