Babies are a little over 10 months now and I decided just for fun to give them a little whole milk in a sippy. They really liked it, but the best part is my dd actually DRANK some-this is huge as my dd had bad reflux when younger which lead to what seems(seemed?) to be a liquid aversion and wouldnt drink from a bottle, sippy, or cup; therefore we've been spoon feeding all of her formula for about the last 4-5 months...so for her to actually drink something is huge. So what I'm wondering is...is it way crazy to switch them to whole milk? And then maybe put them on a vitamin too? Since they wouldnt be getting formula. Or still spoon feed dd some formula but just not as much, and maybe offer ds both formula and whole milk?
Also, maybe this was just a fluke or something, but I'm going to try again tonight and tomorrow...if it continues I am going to call the pedi and see what she has to say. Just thought I'd get some thoughts here first.

We switched the boys to whole milk around 10-11 months old b/c they were really not drinkin that much formula. They were eating lots of table food.

I've heard of people do whole milk this early. :bow2: for spoon feeding her for SO long! My boys didn't drink enough and we had to add extra powdered formula to their bottles so when we switched to milk, our Pedi had us add a packet of Vanilla Carnation Instant Breakfast to each cup. It added more calories and nutrients. I would call your pedi and let them know about the breakthrough and maybe ask about the instant breakfast too.

Thank you for that idea!! I will do that...I know she mentioned pediasure before but not the instant breakfast.

I would double check with your ped before switching completely just to make sure he/she thinks it's okay, but probably they will give you the okay especially if they haven't had any weight or health issues. You could also try mixing half milk/half formula & see if she will drink that.

Our pedi has us transitioning already (11 months but started at 10 1/2) so one wouldn't think 10 months would be a huge deal.
I would taper if possible to avoid tummy upset though.

With my older DD, we actually switched to milk at 6 months - at the advice of the pediatrician. We started out slow - but she loved it so we just went completely to milk after a few days of mixing.

I switched my older kids at 10 and 11 months each. My ped has no problem with it as long as there are no weight issues, and they are eating a wide variety of regular foods already :)

I plan to switch the twins around the same time, they are both very healthy weights already, and we are flying to canada at 11 months and I'd rather deal with milk bottles than formula bottles :p

We switched at 9 months. I swear they hated formula because of the reflux, and my ped gives the go ahead at 9 months anyway as long as they are growing fine. As soon as we switched, they started drinking more, without a fight. I added the Carnation Instant Breakfast in the beginning to give it a little more nutritional value.
