Week 7 and Week 8 have been very bad for me in terms of my health. I've went from my BP sky rocketing, to a tummy virus, to ending up in the ER with dehydration and just feeling overall overwhelmed with myself. I am not sure what to eat or drink. I have three doctors now and everytime I get in there I forget to ask who refers me to a Nutritionist if I need one. Reason why I forget is that they always find something wrong with me and they are quick to handle those problem (great).

I got to my maternal fetal specialist tomorrow, can this person refer me? Or do I have to go back to my OB or even my Primary? My one and only daughter will be 12 years old so I'm learning this thing over again w/ ailments I did not have when I carried her. Help!

Also, what book should I buy? I need a good book to read about pregnancy. Thanks!

Twins by Connie Agnew is the book I got. I thought it was great. It gave me detailed information of what to expect which i needed, since having twins is so much different. Good luck

I bought my copy at Babies R Us I think around $20

i had a really difficult first trimester as well. i had spotting and cramping twice, high b/p (and still do), protein in my urine, and a bladder infection that spread to my kidneys. it was very overwhelming! aside from the high b/p, everything else seems to have calmed down. i am sorry that you're having a rough time :(

a good book would be "when you are expecting twins, triplets, or quads" by Dr. Barbara Luke and Tamara Eberlein. and as far as the eating and drinking---drink as much water as you can stomach and then some! water keeps down dehydration. not so sure about the food. i never had morning sickness but i had nausia and ate something small for the nausia everytime i felt it coming on.

the book has food tables and recipies for good nutrition durning a multpiles pregnancy and will give the basic steps to having your babies BIG and not premies.

    Lots of love!

i'm sorry you're struggling so much right now :hug99: and i'm glad you're advocating for your needs! if you have insurance that requires a referral, then you'll probably need your general physician or OB to refer to the nutritionist. If you do not need a referral for the sake of insurance but just need guidance in finding a nutritionist, then i would think any or all of those doctors could offer their suggestions. I'd probably call my insurance company and get the skinny from them for the fastest answer. I hope it gets easier for you soon :hug99: and congratulations!

Sorry you are having a rough time. I spent a little over a month on bedrest my first trimester. As for referals... don't have much advice there. Is it possible you can call your doc's on call nurse and ask?

I'm sorry you are having such a tough time. :hug99: I would ask the doctor you are seeing tomorrow, they would be able to tell you. It may be your primary that has to refer you.

I agree that this is a good book for a twin pregnancy, but it doesn't really go over the stages and what's happening each week/month. I liked Your Pregnancy Week by Week to go along with it. (I also had a copy of What to Expect when You're Expecting).
