Who will come out first?

Well my appt today once again confirmed that these boys are quite happy where they are. It's just so funny how I've spent the last 6 weeks trying to KEEP them there & now they seem in no big hurry to come. Stubborn little buggars! LOL.

This is the 1st appt my doc finally brought up a scheduled csection, since he also didn't think I'd make it this far (I've had 2 PTL scares, am dilated to 4cm...spent 12 days in the hospital & have been on bedrest since 30 wks). Now we've finally got an end in sight...July 24th is our scheduled EVICTION date :)!

However, I forgot to ask him which baby will come out first. My Baby A is breech, with either his butt or foot resting on my cervix. Baby B is vertex, with his head usually resting on Baby A's tummy (making growth u/s measurements hard). So, will they grab for Baby B's HEAD first or Baby A's BUTT?

The reason I ask is because my husband is dead set on our 1st born being Aiden Michael, since Michael is a family name, & then the 2nd born being Conner James. Since we chose their names back around 20 wks, as much as I've tried not to, I've sorta subconsciously named Baby A Aiden & Baby B Conner in my mind. I've gotten used to their individual personalities & have even noticed myself calling them by name. SO, I'm going to be totally distraught if Baby B comes out first & gets the WRONG NAME! My husband refuses to budge on letting me name them now, so now I just have to hope & pray that they'd pull out A first.

Just curious with those who have had csect with Baby A breech & Baby B vertex, who came out first? Could I REQUEST for them to grab A first?

From my understanding baby A is baby A cause they are closer to your cervix..I know your having a c-section but it should stay the same..The whole time mine were vertex and high so I had a c-section and baby A came out frist..

I think most OB's pull out Twin A first, mine did on purpose so everything we knew about him all along would be consistent.
Like gestational weights and personalities, etc. . . .
    I'd ask though.

As far as I know Baby A usually comes first.

I understand that twins are always moving and my peri said that at each appt whatever baby is closer to the cervix is baby A the higher one is Baby B. So they can switch constantly and no way of knowing who is A or B at delivery time unless you are having a b/g combo. My twins moved to be head next to each other after I had the initial level 2 u/s, the peri went to check the sex of Baby A and couldn't even really tell who was A and who was B since they were next to each other, laying the same way.

Well, I had always thought that the A baby was the first to come out since he/she is closer to the cervix. However, last night at my multiples class they said that if you have a c-section the first one to come out is just the first one they get to which depends on where the incision is and not necessarily on who is closer to the cervix... Ina vaginal delivery though the A baby is the first one out.

Thanks for all the input so quickly! I know Baby A is always the one closest to the cervix & my Baby A has been the same since my 16 wk ultrasound. Like the pp, I wasn't sure in regards to CSect though, as I believe they grab the first they can get to after the incision is made. That's why I wasn't sure if it'd be A's butt or B's head!

My OB asked as she was cutting me for the c-section which baby I wanted her to grab first.

I was under the impression (not that my input is correct, seeing as I dont have twins, but I thought I read this on here) that once A and B are determined early on by position in the uterus, they know which one is which by placenta placement. So, even if they move baby A is always baby A, and vice versa. I believe someone posted a few weeks (or more) ago about the possiblity of A being born B or something like that and this is what she was told...is this wrong?

I remember asking this question when I was newly preggo and they said Baby A will always be Baby A they will not be mixed up I really don't remember how they told me they could tell. But I know their placenta fused by 13wks and my Baby A was always in the same spot, Baby B was my up, down, breech, transverse flipper. I also had their names by 17 weeks since I found out the sex at 16wks and their names fit perfectly, I couldn't imagine their names being switched!

Hmmm...maybe different clinics are different, but MY clinic always has the baby closest to the cervix as Baby A. In my case, that hasn't changed since the get-go, but I'm sure it could for others (where A could move & become B). I can understand wanting A to stay A for medical record purposes, but in my clinic, they don't do it that way. Baby A is always 'closest to the exit'!!! LOL

A is the one with its head closest to the cervix, that's my understanding.

There is technically historical prescident for this not always being true for vaginal delivery... In the bible, Tamar, who got pregnant by Judah, had a set of twins... the first baby reached out his hand, they tied a red cord around it, then he pulled back in, and the other baby came out instead... So I would think that was baby A reaching out...only to get bumped back by baby B. hee hee... so I guess there's no way to really know for sure!

But seriously, I think the docs do try to pull out baby A first... and if that doesn't happen I'm sure they will let you know.

When the doctor was doing the c-section, i told him that he needed to put baby a out first b/c we had named them by their personalities in the womb. he said oh okay and pulled out A first.....

I've never heard of it being any other way besides Baby A is the first to come out. In our case though the girls were transverse and A (Kelly)was definitely on the bottom while B (Kaitlyn) was hugging my ribs and needed to be pushed out.

I'm sure that you can mention it to your doctor though just to be sure.

My baby A was breech and Baby B was head down and the Dr told me whichever is closer at time of delivery will be delivered first. I asked "well what if B comes closer then?" she said that B would become A. A is always the first to come out because it is the closest to the cervix at time of delivery....so technically B could be A and A could then become B. I thought this was really weird. Well, lo and behold, A's feet were still closer and the placenta was indeed closer to the cervix and had to be delivered first. So my A and B stayed the same, and yes Baby A's butt came out before Baby B's head.

I hope this clarifies, it sounds really wierd as Im rereading it before posting....
