I"m 35 weeks and both boys are head down.... I asked if I would end up with a c-section and so my OB says "you're pushing those babies out if I have anything to do with it" and he laughs....(he's my favorite doc of all time)...

I'm anxious and happy but yikes! They are over 6lbs each at least now...so they will not be small babies...

Anyone else expecting to have a vaginal birth? How are you feeling about it?

well i already had my twins but my OB sounds just like yours, i delivered both babies vaginal 9 minutes apart.
    DD 5 lbs 10 oz
    DS 5 lbs 5 oz
i had a epidural :D it was wonderful!! and had a wonderful delivery, we were induced at 38 weeks and 4 days.
i am praying for a delivery this time around as great as the last one.
    Good Luck to you!!

I had them vaginal, 4 minutes apart, close to 8lbs a piece ... very smooth and easy delivery ... would do it again in a h/b.

I was just told yesterday that I was good to go on a vaginal.

    T-minus 14 days :yahoo:

I feel GREAT about it...I've never had a c-section, I'm not scared or anything, but since my previous delivers were vaginal I think that this should be too...I feel good about pushing out 2 5.5 lb babies instead of one 10lb baby too...lol..

If my boys will cooperate for 5 more weeks and stay head down, I will be def. be trying to go vaginally. That is how I had my first son, who was over 8 lbs, and it was so easy and recovery was a breeze! Other than being a little sore, I was myself again before leaving the hospital. I have never had a c-section, but I am REALLY hoping to avoid it. I need to be able to hit the ground running when I get home since I am bringing home 2 babies!! With a c-section I think the recovery is just so much longer. Good luck ladies!

I plan on having a vaginal if I have anything to say about it. I had a friend who had an almost 10 pound baby recently and I said I would rather push out two 6 maybe 7 pound babies than one 10 pound baby anyday. Not to mention the recovery time is so much faster and easier. I was walking around wal mart the day after I had DS.

I'm hoping to have another vaginal delivery! I've never had a c-section, and I really am hoping to avoid one. I'm also hoping to do it again without any pain medications (I've delivered without them in 2 out of 3 births so far). The last baby I delivered was almost 9 pounds, so even if these twins are around 7 pounds each, it seems like a breeze, lol! So long as baby A is head down, my OB will let me try.

Is this your first pregnancy? I went vaginally and I had to push only a handful of times with each baby. Mine were 1 hr and 10 min apart as Baby B was breach and had to be turned. But honestly, this delivery was 100 times easier than my singleton's. And...thank God for an epidural. I probably would have died if I didn't have one, feeling the OB turn Baby B. It was all external turning, but my uterus was SO sore afterwards from it. And I just had a test dose of the epi as I had to push right when the anesthesiologist started to clean my back. That's all he got in, and if I HAD to get pregnant again (which I don't plan to), I would want just the test dose again. Enough to take the bite off, but I could still feel things - like the woosh of the babies coming out.

So, I'm going to be the first to change directions with all these answers!! I don't want a vaginal delivery!! I actually would prefer a c-section. I know that will probably make some mommies mad out there but I was with my sister in the delivery room and witnessed a very scary delivery with a couple big problems. Not the normal typical type of delivery but every thing turned out good in the end. BUT, now I am totally afraid of it! LOL

Yeah, I'm right there with you Angie. Fortunately (or unfortunately) medical issues took the matter out of my hand. After a fibroid surgery last year I cant deliver vaginally but I seriously do not think that I would be excited for a vaginal birth. I am firmly in the "cut me" category. Shame.

I'm hoping for a vaginal delivery, but it's still early for me. My OB says that both babies have to be head down for him to try, so I'm crossing my fingers.

My older DD was a vaginal (she was 7.5 lbs), and it was a pretty good experience.

For those of you that did the vaginal delivery, did you all use an epidural? My OB is willing to do a vaginal delivery as long as the first baby is head down. He's comfortable reaching in for the second if necessary, BUT he wants me to take an epidural and I don't want to. The reason he wants that is that he says, then if they need to do a c-section for the second baby, I'll be ready to go and won't need to go under. But if not, then I'll need to be under for it. I had read that they can set you up with an epidural IV and not turn it on until absolutely necessary, meaning they need to do a c-section. So, just wondering what you all did.

It's interesting to see the responses here. I remember when I was pregnant I was ambivalent on how they came out - just that they came out safely and healthy. I was lucky that both were head down and my doctor was supportive of trying vaginally. Both of my boys were delivered vaginally 2 minutes apart. It was less than 10 minutes from when we started pushing until both boys and their placentas were delivered. If we ever have more children - I would definately want to have them vaginally (barring any complications). And drugs of course. :) Epi's are wonderful things.

I still have a ways to go but I want a vaginal delivery! They are both head down now, but I'm sure they will move around in the next 10+ weeks. I want an epidural too! My OB said he would do it as long as A is vertex and breech extract B if necessary.

That was my scenario, A head down, B breach, going for vaginal birth but needed epi for the "reaching in" part and in case of emergency c/s for B. I wanted an epidural though, had one with my first, and had a contraction / pain free vaginal birth with the twins ... so comfortable and easy. I wouldn't want to be put under and a good doctor can manage the epidural quite well too so you don't have to be all numb when the moment is there.

I am really hoping for a vaginal delivery. So far though these little princesses are not cooperating. I am hoping at least Baby A gets head down here in the next couple weeks. I have had VB with all my other pregnancies and would much rather stick to what I know because they have all been great expereinces and quick recoveries. I have never had any pain meds but I think if B is breech they "highly recommend" it. :D

I have started to play music for the babies way down on my belly to try an coax them to turn! LOL

I'm definitely hopin and prayin for a vaginal delivery. The idea of a c-section is kinda scary for me, as i did vaginal with my other kids. Right now baby a is vertex, so its promising, but unfortunately while most drs in my clinic will deliver baby b breech, not all do, so i hope if i dont have my dr i at least get one that will try if need be.
