Who is due later in the year?

I'm just wondering who my due date buddies are. I know there are now several of us due later in the year. I'm officially due October 10th, but that's the date based on a singleton. My doctor is leaving the due date the same for reference and we hope to push me as close to it as possible.

    Our story:
We conceived via IVF and found out on February 1st. My beta numbers didn't reflect twins, but my progesterone was awfully high. We were told at 6w4d that we did have twins, but that we'd lost one already. I was sad about the loss, but was delighted to have one baby. Over the next two weeks it was odd to mourn the loss of one but rejoice in the conception of the other. At 8w4d we had another ultrasound and got a good look at twin-a. I asked the NP to look a little further to see if the lost twin was reabsorbed yet (actually, I had a suspicion there was something more, I just wanted confirmation so I could live in reality). Lo and behold there was a second heartbeat. Twin-b was difficult to see in the beginning (still is to a certain extent) because he's right behind/on top of Twin-a. We were very happy to have twins, but we were told Twin-b's sac was too small for survival. We were told that Twin-b wasn't likely to survive the next 2 weeks, but if he could make it to 14 weeks then it would be pretty safe to count on twins. At 10w3d we were relieved to see we still had twins, but Twin-b's sac was still too small. Our doctor then told us she suspected TTTS, which really shocked us, especially considering we had always assumed frats, not id's. I followed advice which helps people with TTTS to balance sac sizes (3-4 Boosts + bedrest) and it really helped! I didn't realize how malnourished I had been, but apparently from several weeks of the runs (sorry for tmi) I wasn't able to retain much protein in my system, yet I was retaining too much water, the water being in all the wrong places. The protein helped me and the babies and the rest helped fix the water retention issues. At 12 weeks there was a noticable difference in the sac sizes and by yesterday, 15 weeks, the sac sizes are now about the same. Both babies look great and both were active yesterday, though Twin-a seems to be dominantly active. I've been lucky enough to feel flutters for about 2-3 weeks. The u/s tech said she wasn't surprised, Twin-a is rambunctious!

Twins are no strangers to my family. My grandfather is an identical twin (I call his twin Uncle Grandpa). Dh's dad is a twin, but we don't know if he and his brother are identical. They look completely different to me, but lots of identicals do to me. Maybe they would look more alike if they had led similar lifestyles, but dh's dad smoked and drank a lot from an early age, where his brother never touched the stuff. My cousin has a set of identical girls. My aunt has two sets of fraternal boys. Further, twins run rampant among my friends. My best friend from Junior high/high school has boy/girl twins. Two friends I used to work with each have a set of frat boys.

What's your story? How are you feeling right now? What did you expect in this pregnancy and what surprised you? I expected to get bigger faster. I didn't expect to have to eat so danged much food.

Hi there! I am due a week after you, Oct 17th. We conceived via Clomid & IUI. We also found out early on that we were having twins (7 weeks) so I am thankful for that. At the time and since they have measured a couple of days apart, but from what I can tell that is pretty normal. Like you our baby A is the larger more active one and baby B is a bit harder to detect as that one is a bit higher in there. The last U/S baby A looked like he was in a boxing match :D I think I have felt them here and there, the butterfly feeling but I would love to feel them more – I am sure that will be here soon.

This being my first pregnancy I am not sure I knew what to expect aside from what I had been told by friends and family. I suppose since we are having twins it has been a little more stressful than I had anticipated, although I am sure I would have worried just as much if it was a single pregnancy, just my nature. I am starting to get bigger, but I am already on the big side so right now to most people I just look like I am getting fatter. Oh well I am sure the pregnancy will become real obvious soon enough. I had pretty bad m/s for the first 12 weeks or so, never actually got sick, just felt like I was about ready to all day long. So I am thankful that has gotten better as I know for a lot of twin pregnancies it can be much harder and last a lot longer. I still have pretty strong food aversions – nothing ever sounds good to eat, although I am now hungry about every 2-3 hours which is very strange. I don’t think I have ever woken up in the middle of the night hungry until now.

At this point I cant wait to find out the sexes – are you going to find out?

Hope all continues to go well for you!

We just found out yesterday that we are having 2 boys! :)

Like you, I've had some serious food aversions. I was never a big fan of eating to begin with so trying to eat enough has been difficult. Until just recently I felt full all the time and just chewing on food would make me feel nauseated. Now, like you, I've actually got an appetite and want to eat every 2-3 hours. I've been dividing up my bigger meals into 2-3 smaller meals. When we make dinner, we dish me out 2 plates and stick one in the fridge to wait a couple hours for my second dinner. Peanuts are really good, as well, for filling that void right before bed.

    Hey guys!!

We conceived through IVF and are having twins!! My due date is Oct. 16. We had originally conceived triplets but lost one at 6 weeks. This is our first pregnancy to make it this far. We had a m/c at 6 weeks in 2005.

I'm already in maternity pants and have been since around 10 weeks!! Love those things, so roomy! I too feel like I'm hungry all the time and nothing really sounds good but take out, much to the chagrin of my DH who thinks I spend way too much money on take out!!

Have you guys started buying anything for the nursery yet? I think I'll wait until we find out the sexes to start but I'm getting super antsy!! Could it be nesting already ;o) We're researching what stroller we want, infant car seats etc . . Also trying to get the little ones signed up for daycare.

Good hearing from you. . . hope to talk with you with you soon!

Hi everyone! My "singelton" due date is Nov 5th so I guess that means we are hoping for late October babies! I have threee ds's already, 10, almost 8 and 5 and just celebrated my first wedding anniversary with my new husband :) We bought our home in October and had a chemical pregnancy in January. I got pg again right away and had the weirdest feeling in the world that it was twins (we also had a long-standing joke about if my DH wanted more than one child, it'd have to be twins b/c i was only getting pg once! :) ) Right away I started spotting, and after having the chemical pg i thoght "oh no, here we go again" (before i had my first ds, i had 5 m/c's with my exhusband, so the history of m/c was already there and i was worried about being able to sustain a pg at this point b/c my family has a history of early menopause. So i had to visit the dr right away at exactly 5 weeks by my calculations (i had 2 days of "o" pain instead of one that month, so i went by the second day)... all he could do was have my betas done and reassure me that spotting can be normal even though it was new for me. I told him i thought i "o"d twice and he told me that can happen and not worry, but then i knew i could be off by one day---and sure anough, my beta hcg and progesterone numbers came back really high, even for a day off. the lab lady tried to convince me over the phone that my dates were off (is that *her* job?? didn't *I* just go through a loss? i think i know my dates as close as anyone can!! oh yeah, plus she didn't believe that i "o" on day 9 of my cycle, as if that can't happen). I just thought, wow it's early to be having so many emotions -- haha! So sure enough i was back at week 7 for an u/s b/c i was spotting again (it was the day before my scheduled visit, so i wasn't too far off that time...) and sure enough we saw two sacs! The surprise for me was seeing two heartbeats b/c i thought FOR SURE something was wrong! We were both pretty blown away and i couldn't wait to tell people, but i'd already ruined it b/c i told everyone that i thought we were having twins already, so not ONE PERSON was surprised. I was back at the dr again at 8 weeks and back again last week at 10 weeks because of more bleeding (and what i thought was amniotic fluid last week!)!-- and they've grown so much. Baby a was really moving around and baby b was just sort of moving legs :)

Heartrates were 173 and 157 and i've felt they were girl/boy from the get-go, but of course that could be wishful thinking b/c that would be our perfect scenario (these will be dh's only children)! i had a twin dream before they were confirmed and i had dreams about each of my boys being boys before i knew, even when my head told me ds#2 was a girl (!) and then recently i dreamed that baby b was a girl. I don't want to ruin my track record :) I continue to have a ton of spotting and discharge, and it's been red, brown, yellow, heavy, light, all of it....and it still freaks me out, but i have really learned to take it easy and have my feet up as often as possible. oh and 1 more thing... i look about 5 to 6 months pregnant already!

It's so nice to go through this with you all -- i hope you are all having a better time with it than i am!!!

I am due October 20. My twins are spontaneous and the doctor is almost positive they are identical since they appear to have one placenta. By 6 weeks pregnant I already had a belly. Since this is my second pregnancy, I figured I just showed earlier. Then at 8 weeks I had my first appt and my obgyn said my uterus was enlarged and maybe my dates were off. I told her she obviously didn't know me because I knew exactly when I got pregnant (i can tell when i ovulate). She said we'll see at the ultrasound. So for the next two weeks we joked about it being twins. As soon as the u/s tech started the u/s she said "do you know you are having twins?" Even though we had joked about it, I was in shock! I'm going to have 3 kids under 3yrs!

I had a hard time eating the first 6 weeks or so because I was constantly sick to me stomach. I have managed to gain 7 pounds in the last month. I am still having a hard time eating meat. I try to eat every 2 to 3 hours. I definitely need to eat before bed or I wake up starving. The constant peeing has started and it is driving me crazy.

    This still doesn't feel real!

Hello I am alos due on Oct 10th that is why I added you as a friend a while back. We will most likely have a scheduled c section done hopefully just a week before the 10th. We have not found out the gender yet but hopefully soon. But it is nice to know at exactly 16 weeks we should be able to find out.

Hi everyone, Im new here....I registered several years ago to "lurk" with the future hope of twins....well guess what?!? Here I am!!

We concieved via IVF and I had my first u/s last Tuesday at 6w1d and saw two hb's (107 & 119 bpm) there is also a third empty sac. The more I read, several people with an empty sac at 6w end up with a baby in it...eek!! My next u/s is Tuesday at 4pm, I will be 7w1d.

My EDD is/was 12/15 (Im the latest on here so far!) The fertility docs said to expect a Thanksgiving delivery.....I was nervous about having a baby late in the year and needing to hold them back for kindergarten (especially if it was 2) etc etc, I feel a bit better about a November birth but then question why I am even worried about THAT!!! lol

Hope to get to know all of you well over the next several months!!

Hi :) I'm due Dec. 18th and found out on Thursday (6 week u/s) that we're having twins! We were able to see both heartbeats and we're praying both of them are holding on tight because we're already so in love with them. :) We conceived via IVF and put 3 embryos back. We only saw the two of them and no extra sacs so the other little embie must have absorbed. I'm thrilled with twins and have been hoping for them for a very long time. This was our 2nd IVF - our 1st one was last July and we were pg with a singleton but lost it at around 9 weeks...we found out at 10. :-( SO 10 weeks is our big milestone we're anxious to get to so we can get past that. I'm guessing we'll probably have them sometime between Halloween and Thanksgiving. I'm 5'1 so hopefully I'll be able to hold out a good long time. I'm willing to do anything to keep these little ones safe and sound. :) I was a little suspicious there may be two in there because my betas were higher than last time (13DPO was 109 and 15DPO was 268) but my progestrone was quite high - 150. I thought that might mean something. The betas were iffy on 1 or 2 so I was ecstatic when we saw 2 heartbeats. I was also nauseaus quite early. About 10 DPO was nausea and I'd already started peeing at night by then. Now I think it's just increasing to like 2 or 3 times a night, boobs are still sore but don't seem as horrible as last week (hope that is ok!!). They're just heavy and sore when I touch them. Very tired, thirsty, and getting light headaches and dizzy spells here and there. Anyway - looking forward to getting to know you all!!

    Hello Ladies!
I'm recognizing a few names on here for the Mommies that are due In December.
I too am expecting Twins!!! Yay!!! I was convinced that it was going to be triplets, but they say it's twins.....so I guess I have to go with the docs.

I've always lurked here but could never write because I didn't have twins. I do have a 3 year old little girl and a 4 year old boy, but no twins. My hubby and I experienced secondary infertility and lost two pregnancies before this pregnancy before turning to IVF. We put back 4 embies (2 great & 2 not so great). Well, two of our little beans took and we couldn't be happier! I experienced OHSS (Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome) and was in the hospital for a week, but I'm feeling MUCH much better. Since I gained 50lbs of fluid with the OHSS over the course of a week and a half.....it's bizarre to be losing that fluid now...and see the scale going down while mentally my mind says that I should be gaining weight because of a twin pregnancy. I know that I'm quite early for the twin weight gain....but it's just so strange to see the scale going down....although I still am not at my pre-OHSS weight. Whatever.....I'm just happy that the IVF worked...and that I have tow little heartbeats thumping away in my belly!!! :D :D

When I went for my last Ultrasound at 7W and 2D Baby A was measuring at 7W 1D and had 134bpm & Baby B was 7W 0D and 145bpm. I go for my first OB appointment next week.

I'm SO EXCITED!!!!!! I can't wait to meet the rest of you ladies and C~O~N~G~R~A~T~S to every one of you!!!

    Hi Everyone -

I am new here and wanted to say hello / share my due date. I had been reading the posts over the past few weeks and now with some official good news, felt comfortable posting.

I am having mono/di twins who may or may not be sharing a placenta. I am almost 10 weeks pregnant and will be officially due on November 26th. This is my second pregnancy, the first resulted in miscarriage, which is why I was a bit hesitant to post. The news of identical twins was quite a shock and after some recovery/processing time, I am very excited to be a mom to two special little people!

My nausea/vomiting has been quite out of hand and had lost 10 pounds, but now with the help of Zofran, I am slowly gaining back. I am also a teacher, which has made the illness quite difficult. Luckily, with the help of a very dear coworker, I have been able to keep this information quiet so the kids and other teachers don't know yet. I expect that I will be sharing our good news with friends/coworkers at the end of the first trimester in a few weeks. We shared our excited news with our immediate family this weekend.

I look forward to reading all of the wonderful advice that this site has to offer!

    Thank God for Zofran!!!!

Futurehopes- We had a 3rd sac as well at 6 weeks. There was a fetal pole and a heartbeat at almost 6 weeks but was almost 2 weeks behind the other two. A week couple of weeks later it just stopped developing and was ultimately reabsorbed (so weird to say that).

Anywho, good luck to all on any upcoming ultrasounds!!

Hi! I am due October 29 with mono/di twins. I was pretty shocked when we found out at our 7 wk u/s. I didn't have any gut feelings that we were having twins, and we didn't use IVF. Also, my beta HCG levels were on the low but normal side, though my progesterone was pretty high. About a week later, I had very heavy bright red bleeding, clots and cramps. I was sure I miscarried, but the u/s showed a large subchorionic hemorrhage and two babies doing fine. I was put on bedrest for two weeks and have now been on just modified bedrest since. The babies are both still doing well.

I didn't have m/s as bad as I had it with my DD, who is almost 2. I am MUCH more hungry this time though, so I think that has helped to overcome the m/s. I too have to eat about every two hours. I already look like I did when I was about 20 weeks pregnant with my DD. I have gained about 13 pounds so far.

So glad you started this thread, Lizzyboo. I didn't realize how many of us there are on this board expecting in the fall. Hope to chat with you all more and best of luck to everyone!!

    Hi everyone!
I just joined the community on the advice of a twin-mom friend.
I'm in my 11th week (when will this endless 1st trimester be over?) with fraternal twins conceived via IVF. Their official due date is November 22nd but my OB wants me to get to 38 weeks, so that's about Nov. 7th. We knew twins were possibile but DH & I were shocked when we saw two sacs & yolks on a u/s at 6 weeks! I have had some spotting and cramping that I think was due to a blood clot visible on the u/s (now gone). Boy is that nerve wracking.
I'm very lucky since I've been queasy on and off, but not vomiting. Like others here, food isn't always interesting (not quite aversion) but I do get really really hungry. The fatigue is killing me though. I wake up tired!

It's so nice to have other twin moms to talk to! I'm so glad you are here!

I have a question...I'm not crampy anymore but my lower belly/uterus is SORE. Anyone else experiencing that?

    Thanks,
    Belinda

I'm so happy to have such great company! Thanks for posting.

Congratulations to everyone! I think we are all truly blessed. :)

My babies may also be mono/di - they can't confirm the chorionicity. We do see a membrane very well, though, so our previous fears of TTTS are subsiding since the sac sizes have evened out.

I also had OHSS, but to a moderate extent (not severe). It was weird in the beginning to have the weight fluctuate so much due to fluids. I still get asked what my pre-preg weight was and I really can't say for sure. I just know the range I was during the IVF cycle. I wish I had weighed myself prior to IVF, and I also wish I had gotten a photo of my tummy because after I started injecting I was all bloat, then baby growth. I think I've gained a little over 10 pounds by now and I definitely have a baby belly. Someone I know that works at the Safeway where I shop actually reached out and touched my bump yesterday. I thought it would bug me but it didn't - I'm just so excited to be pregnant and I'm feeling extremely blessed.

Lizzybo, a baby bump at 16 weeks! That's so cool! I may be dumb to wish it but I can't WAIT until I start showing.

I too cant wait to start showing – I think right now to the rest of the world I just look like I am getting fatter – I want them all to know there is a reason for it – at least this time :D I am sure in just a couple of months I wont be so excited, but for now I cant wait.

Thanks Lizzybo for starting this thread – as I read through the daily posts I keep seeing so many people so close to the end or having just delivered I was beginning to wonder if there going to be any of us left. Looks like there is no need to worry about that!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Hello everyone. I am new to the Twin site. Congrats to all. I live in NC.. I am a Nurse. We have 2 Boys who are 7 and 2. We are expecting twins... Due date-Dec. 7, 08. However, I have been told to not expect to go over 38 weeks. We found out we were having twins at 6 Weeks. I had another u/s today that confirmed both Heartbeats.. So, we will see again in 4 weeks..
I am really hoping for at least one girl.. They are pretty sure they are fraternal twins, b/c they are in separate sacs. My maternal g'ma was a twin so they think that's where it came from. (FYI-Mom's make twins, not daddies)...
Anyway, I have a lot of questions.. and will continue to read to see what I can learn from other twin mommies.

    Hi!

I'm due on Dec. 27th. I had my twins in Nov. 05. I don't know right now if I'm have one or two babies, I will find out on my ultrasound May 15th. I think I'm secretly wishing it was twins again, but I'll be very happy with a singleton too. The twins took me about 15 years to conceive. I went through EVERYTHING. This one is spontaneous! I'm still in total shock!

As far as baby bumps go, I'm in that stage where it starting to look like I'm actually pregnant and not just putting on a few. I'm at 16 weeks and have only gained 13 pounds so far. I need to start eating more. My goal is to be a 20 pounds at 20 weeks.

How's everybody else's weight gain experiences?

I'll be 16 weeks on Monday and have gained 17 pounds. My weight gain has been strange. I gained 5 pounds immediately when i found out I was pregnant. Then I didn't gain weight for about 5 weeks. Then I gained another 5 pounds in a week. My weight gain was 1 pound a week for two weeks after that and now I have gained 5 pounds in a week again!

I had a bump at 8 weeks and by 14 weeks I looked 6 months pregnant! I compared my belly photo to my singleton belly photo and I was right on with the 24 week photo!

    Hi all!

We found out I was pregnat in January, and the night before I went to my first doctor appointment I teased my DH about maybe having twins. Not that I ever thought it would happen. Lo and behold, the next day the dr tells me there's two. If I wasn't already laying down I would have been floored! After that I just had to convence my DH, and my family that "no I'm not kidding, honest, I'm having tiwns!"

They're due sept 27. I'm about 19 wks now(wow. I'm I really?! this is all so new to me!), and I'm starting to worry that the maternity cloths I got the first week of april aren't going to last me much longer! I even bought them bigger than I needed! But I am loving being pregnat now that the horrors of the first trimester are over (amen sister! Thank God for Zofran!). I lost almost 20 lbs the first trimester, but I'm back up to what I wieghed my first doctor visit. To be honest I really don't know what kind of wieght gain I should expect, or is healthy and normal for twins.

    Hi Everyone-
I am 7 weeks 5 days with identical twins, so the babies are due sometime around Thanksgiving although we haven't been given a date yet. DH and I just got back from our second ultrasound since learning it was twins, and we are so excited and relieved to have seen those two hearts beating for the first time! The twins share a placenta but each have their own yolk sac. The doctors can't find a membrane between them yet, but we are anxiously waiting to learn whether they are mo/di or mo/mo. Learning that there are two of them has been so special, and we want them both so badly!

Is anyone else with identical twins also waiting to learn if their twins are mo/mo?

Congratulations and warm wishes to all!

oh dear, I'm behind the curve on the weight gain (DOWN four pounds since pre-preg) and I can't figure out why! I'm eating 4-6 times a day, lots of high-fat food but I can't seem to gain weight. This has NEVER been a problem for me! LOL! I'm thinking I need to start drinking milkshakes or something. I started out about 25 lbs overweight, so I'm not worried yet. I too am aiming for 20 lbs by 20 weeks only now I need to gain 24 lbs!
Any hints on what to eat?
    Thanks,
    Belinda

I had to drink Boost high protein drinks for a few weeks and that got me some weight gain. I'm up about 12 pounds now, but I also lost 4 pounds in the first several weeks.

Sorry I'm not expecting - just wanted to comment re mo/mo's - your babies having their own yolk sac is a really really good sign that the membrane is there. Generally mo/mo's only have 1 yolk sac. Good luck I hope they find it soon. http://www.monoamniotic.org has alot of information and is the best place to look up mo/mo info if you need it.

    [SIZE=14pt]Doing well here Lizzybo,

Had our 16 week u/s last week and the doc thinks my little girls have penis's, or is the plural of penis, peni?! LOL, I'm not complaining though, I'll take them anyway I can get them ;o) We've been trying for so long I couldn't care less what the sex is!!

I think I felt one of the little guys poke at me the other day. Could have been gas though. Anyone else feeling any poking?

Hi Everyone! I am feeling well these days. How is everyone else? I am searching for a new doctor though as mine is not very experienced with twins and I just don't feel comfortable, so that is stressful.

To davispigeon, I very often have a milk shake before bed! I read the suggestion in Dr. Luke's book. I also found that it helps subside my hunger in the middle of the night. Before that, I was having some other type of snack, and when I would wake up to use the bathroom, I was starving. But since I have started the milkshakes, I no longer need to eat at 2 in the morning! I still can't believe how hungry I am with this pregnancy.

To jellojoy, I don't have momo twins, but they were initially concerned we might. I went for ultrasounds at 7 and 8 weeks without sight of a membrane. At 9 weeks, we found one. Also, like a pp said, if you have sight of a yolk sac, it is very likely there is a membrane. Sometimes the membrane is just so thin, it is extremely hard to see. I hope you find it soon.

Hope everyone is doing well these days.
