    Hi Everyone,

I would like to start using white noise in my boys room. Should I invest in a white noise machine, the ones I saw basically use air to create the noise. Or should I use a CD, I saw sone that had nature sounds and lullabies. Or could a ceiling fan or radio qualify as white noise?

    Thanks

We use "white noise" at naptime, but just a short music box lullaby for bed. Their bedroom is right next to the laundry room and air conditioner unit so they are really used to a lot of noise when sleeping. At naptime, I play a nature sounds cd. I even played it the other night when thunderstorms kept them up past their bedtime. It has a thunderstorm on it so they just thought it was their cd. :) I'm just using an old boom box. Didn't want to spend the extra money. DH and I use a Vornado brand fan in our bedroom for white noise. It's great. He can't hear the kids, but I can. Then we don't hear the cars outside either.

any of those options are fine. i like our white noise machine because it's small, portable & takes batteries, but basically anything that makes a continuous soothing noise is fine.

Our babies are still in our room and we use a white noise machine that was given to us, but I've been transitioning them to naps in their room and I just turn the stereo to a static channel and it works fine.

I have a machine that makes white noise but I just use a fan which does the double job of white noise and air circulation. (Fans are recommended to help avoid SIDS.)

I use a white noise machine that I got from Target for $19.99. It also has a projector on it and can project cute animals and whatnot on the ceiling above. There are six settings to it, but the white noise is actually "waterfall". The great thing about it, is that I can get really loud. We have a smaller home and we live very close to noisy neighbors, so I crank up the volume and they have never been woken by all the commotion. VERY good idea though to invest in some form of white noise; your babies will sleep so much better and you won't hear every little grut and snore!)

I got this one Homedics Sound Spa except I got it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for $19.99. It works great.

I got a noise machine. It's small and portable, so when we travel it's easy to pack. Plus I don't care for the actual white noise sound, so I like that the machine has a variety. (Right now we're on the waterfall.) And it's continuous.

I just used a radio, off station with just static. When they were a bit older, I started putting it on a station with quiet music. It worked fine for us & I didn't have to invest in a white noise machine.

i use the fan for circulation and white noise, but i also use a cd called Baby Bach that i play for them at naptime. One concerto and they're sound asleep. :D
