Which Stroller?

Which stroller did you buy for your twins? Do you like it? I registered for a duo glider, but my FIL and MIL are saying that they can't find the one that I registered for in stock. Do they make SBS strollers that accepts two car seats? What are all the strollers that fit 2 car seats? I only have found the duo glider. This is so confusing. Also I know it depends on my kids birth weight and height but when did your children outgrow their infant car seats?

I have the DuoGlider and like it - I have only used it with the infant seats so far. Some people think that they are too bulky, and it is a big stroller, but it works for me. I also have a side by side for later on- a Chicco. I think there are models of SBSs out there that accept infant seats, but not sure which ones. Also, a lot of women on here swear by the Double Snap N Go for the infant seats. I knew I wanted a tandem stroller in addition to my SBS so I went ahead and got the DuoGlider.

I used the double snap & go for a while and now I am going to look for some type of jogging stroller. My girls are 9 months and they are still in their infant seats and they will be until it warms up some.

I went through A LOT trying to find the right stroller for us. Everyone is different but here is what I FINALLY figured out for us.

While the girls were in their infant seats the only stroller that I needed was my double snap-n-go. It was fairly cheap, had a basket underneath and was light for getting in and out of the car. Once they moved out of infant seats I got a Jeep SBS umbrella stroller that I still use for running errands. Again it is light and great for getting in and out of the car. For walks we have a BOB Duille Revolution that is great for jogging as well but in my opinion way to bulk and heavy for running errands. A friend of mine just got a BOB with a car seat attachment piece, but I am not sure if it holds two car seats.

I have a DuoGlider as well but have only used it a handful of times and will be selling it at our next twins club sale. For me it was just way to bulky and I didn't like having the girls in a front/back stroller, SBS works better for us.

So I guess I would suggest the Double Snap-n-go until they are out of infant seats. I would wait to get another stroller (once they are out of infant seats) till you have a better idea of what you want your stroller to do for you.

Most twin moms I know have more than one double stroller. The general consensus seems to be that there is not one stroller out there that does it all and is perfect for every stage.

AFAIK there is no SBS stroller that accepts two infant car seats. The reason is, SBS strollers are designed to be around the width of a wheelchair -- no more than 29" I think -- to make it possible for you to get through "most" doors/aisles. If you put two infant seats side by side you will see that it exceeds this width, I think that's why there is no SBS that accepts two car seats.

My recommendation is to get a used double snap n go -- check your local craigslist.org or MOMs club, should be around $50 -- and WAIT until you need to move up to get your next stroller. This way you will get a better feel for how you will be using your stroller, what your specific needs are, and can get one that will be best for you.

    ON EDIT:
P.S. In addition to the double SNG, I have an MBUD (Mountain Buggy Urban Double) and a Combi Twin Savvy. I love the MBUD -- it is such a dream to push and steer and great quality, made in New Zealand -- but the downside is it's very heavy and it doesn't fit in my car (a wagon). If you walk everywhere I would really recommend this stroller. For my car I have an "umbrella" stroller -- the Combi Twin Savvy -- really easy to fold/unfold, lightweight (for a double stroller), pushes/steers fairly well.

P.P.S. I transitioned to the convertible seats when they were 8 months (6.5 months adjusted). They still fit in the infant buckets but they hated them by this point because they really wanted to sit more upright.

I have a Graco Quatro Tour Duo, which I liked better than the Duoglider. It seemed more sturdy, and I think it folds up smaller, although it is heavier. I have done a ton of research and found no SBS that takes 2 infant carseats (some do take one). For SBS, I really like the Zooper Tango. It's a little less expensive (at $400) than some of the other options. I love the Mountain Buggy, but it's more expensive (like $600 I think).

i also have the duoglider and am very pleased with it. the babes are 9 months tomorrow and still riding in infant car seats, but we use the plain stroller for walks. i like that it turns on a dime and i can handle it with one hand while pulling a shopping cart alongside me at the same time, plus it's little tray dealie holds my wallet, keys and cell phone so i don't have to dig around for it.

cons are that it is bulky and a bit heavy, but it fits ok in my small suv (takes up half the cargo space though). also, the second canopy shade has to be removed to store it. when they were younger the rear seat was too vertical (there's vertical and flat on the rear seat only, and the front seat doesn't recline flat), but back then we strolled them in their infant seats, and now we do just fine.

i am looking to buy a sbs once they are a little older and kicking each other's seat, but for now, the kid in back can't reach the front if it's in the upright position. good luck HTH

I used a double snap and go stroller in the beginning. It was very convenient and had a large basket underneath for necessities. When the kids outgrew that, I asked a ton of people when I went to the zoo with people that had SBS strollers and asked their opinion. I ended up going with the Combi Twin Sport. It is pretty light, folds down and folds over again so it doesn't take up that much space. It even has a shoulder strap if you feel like carrying it (I don't) but you can also pull it when it is folded on the wheels. I love it! I ordered mine on line for $199.99 plus free shipping at www.tinyride.com. They also sell the same stroller at Babies R Us. I hope this helps. I also have a Baby Trend double jogger that was given to us by a friend. I love that too. The only thing I would change is the canopy---It moves a lot with the wind, but I can't really complain because it was free!!

    I hope this helps!

My boy/girl twins are almost 18 months old.

I love the coutours tandem. It takes carseats and regular seats. >It is big but does fit in my Elantra trunk so not too huge. I love the huge basket underneat and large wheels for parks and the like. Here is a link.Stroller
