I am new to the site and just wanted a little advice about deciding on which name to give which twin. I am 30 weeks with B/B twins and we have picked out some names: Alexander Makoto and Nicholas Akira. (Husband is half Japanese, so we are using Japanese middle names.) This is my first pregnancy also, so everything is very overwhelming. Anyway, was just wondering how everyone ended up deciding?

Welcome and congratulations on your twin boys!! I really like the names you picked for them! With my last twin pregnancy, we decided on names toward the end (I unfortunately lost them). But our girls never changed positions or anything so we knew who was who for a while. Baby B seemed to be more active (or we just felt her more) and DH wanted to name the 'playful' one Molly. We also knew she was our small one. Our other name went to Baby A and seemed to fit her just from what we knew of her from the ultrasounds. I'm sure you can just say Baby A will be "name" and Baby B will be "2nd name." Or you can wait until they're born to decide which name fits whom.

    Good luck!

Well with our girls my DH picked one name and I picked the other (not on purpose). When my DH was born he was only 5 lbs 10 oz (full term) and I was 8 lbs 8 oz. So we decided that we would give the smaller baby the name he picked out and the larger one the name I picked. Also my DH was a breech baby and on the ultrasound the smaller of the two was always breech so it just worked out perfect.

We decided to give the name that we agreed on first (Mehmet) to the son being born first, and as one of our boys was slightly bigger from the beginning of my pregnancy and also lies lower in my pelvis, we´ll think that´ll be our little Mehmet. So, logically, the other name, Miro, is for his brother.

Anyway, we´re still not sure yet and decided to look at them and then dicide how they shall be called - maybe they just look at us as if they wanted a different name, who knows?

I did Baby A with the name that started with A. It also ended up that Sammy looked nothing like an Alexandra!

    You could:
--Have Alexander be Baby A since his name starts with A
--Use the name you picked out first as Baby A's name
--Wait until they come and see who looks more like an Alexander/a Nicholas

Before the birth, Gabriela was the only name we were 100% sure of. They were born on the morning of my SIL's wedding! [IMG] So I was alone in the clinic with them most of the day. I just spent it looking at them, marvelling over them. When DH arrived that evening I said, "I think this one is Gabriela." And so it was, then we worked out her middle name and Bianca's name.

My daughter is expecting twin boys and has picked out the names Layton Tyler and Preston Michael. When I asked how she would determine which one got which name, she said she would name the first one out "Layton" because that's the name she wanted when she thought she was having a singleton! That method's as good as any I suppose!

    Good luck!

I named my boys once they were out. I looked at them all and said, "How am I suposed to come up with thre first and middle names that all sound good together?" luckily my sister was in better shape than me and helped me out. [IMG]

That's a very interesting question,I just never thought about it because I had b/g. I probably would have named baby A and baby B before they were born if they were same sex twins........

Emma was the only name we were 100% sure of. (cept her middle name) We first chose Zoe Linn for Eliana, but I didn't think she felt like a Zoe, so we went with Eliana.

We just assigned names to Baby A and Baby B. Emma was baby B and Eliana was baby A.

This is my first post here, but we did not name our twins until after they were born, mostly because we did not know the sexes until they were born. All we had were the middle names chosen since we went with ethnic middle names. Then when we delivered 2 boys we focused on finding first names that we liked and they looked like. In the end Baby A became Andrew Kiyan and Baby B became Brendan Shahriar.

Thank you all for your suggestions and advice, very helpful, and very creative. When we had first ultrasound done that showed one was a boy, the other would not cooperate, so we were hoping it would be a girl. I had always had a girls name picked out if I ever had one. Lauren Belle, as you can see I used as screen name. My husband still wanted to use Japanese middle name, so I gave up Belle for Ayame. We had to wait 2 more months for another ultrasound to find out we had another boy, and it took a long time to come up with the name Nicholas. We're getting anxious for them to be born though now, can't wait to see what they will look like. Thanks again. Will keep you updated.

I too have Japanese hertiage and would have loved to give my children Japanese names but it didn't work out that way. while I was pregnant baby A always stayed on the monitors for stress testing and baby B never did he was moving all over and layed up in my ribs giving my heartburn. so Baby A was named Ethan meaning strong and constitant. baby B was named Aiden meaning little fiery one. I would love to talk to you sometime about the Japanese part of your life my knowledge is limited my grandmother left her life in japan and taught us very little she has since died and left us with very little understanding of most of her life and our hertiage.

We decided to name the baby that was all over the place and always kicking Brenden b/c it meant something like soldier or sometrhing about moving...Landon was named landon b/c he was calm and it meant somethign like grassy meadows.... Low and behold, once they're out and born, their opposite... We always said their names fit them and i guess that now they do. Even though tey're identical, Landon doesnt look like a Brenden...he looks liek a Landon. LOL. Good Luck and maybe wait and see until their born.

Love the names you picked out! All throughout my pregnancy, we kept referring to the heavier twin as Gabby who we considered to be Baby B then at my last ultrasound, the technician told us that Alexandra (Baby A) was heavier by about half a pound which confused the heck out of us. Anyhow, we decided that whoever came out heavier was going to be Gabby. Well I guess the technician was wrong because Gabby was born 7.12 lbs and Alex was 7.4 lbs - guess she was looking at the wrong baby on the ultrasound!

We knew before the birth that we were having boys, so we had picked two names. We decided (kind of arbitrarily) which name was to go to the biggest twin.
