I really want to get my almost three-year-old twins some kind of learning/computer system for their birthday but am confused about what's appropriate for their age and skill level. They don't have much computer experience but pick up things quickly so I don't want them to outgrow the expensive toy quickly....anyone have any recommendations between a leap pad, leapster explorer or click start computer?

I'm not sure there is any handheld system that is good for 3yo until they get closer to 4?

I just purchased the 'Explorer' today for the twins. However, I only brought 1 for now. I am not sure if my twin daughter will play with it as she is not so into 'computer games' like my son IS. I do know that Explorer has a lot of positive review. Good luck!

I think we will be getting the Explorers for the girls for Christmas.

My two love their clickstart, but there isn't much to the games. They have a couple of the games and there are 3 or 4 very short games on each game that teach typing and mouse skills, shapes, numbers, letters, and colors. The graphics are pretty rough too, but they don't seem to mind that though. I have never seen the explorer, but I might have to check it out for Christmas after the good reviews here.

My suggestion would be to wait until closer to 4...there seems to be something that happens between almost three and turning four where they suddenly "get" those handhelds. Just a thought. I'm getting the Explorers for the boys' fourth birthday in February, as they are finally showing interest and play with a hand-me-down Leapster.
