Living near Lake Ontario, our house gets hit with tons of humidity and occasional driving rain. Our old wood door is starting to rot. I’ve been told fiberglass might solve that, but is it really that moisture-resistant over the long haul?

  2. We had the same concern living by the water — our wooden door swelled constantly, even with sealing. We finally switched to https://www.elegantentrydoors.ca/entry-fiberglass-doors/ fiberglass doors and the difference was immediate. These doors are engineered to resist moisture, and even after storms and seasonal dampness, ours has remained completely unaffected. No swelling, no sticking, and no finish issues. They also don’t rot, so you eliminate that headache entirely. Maintenance is practically zero — a quick wipe-down and it's good as new. It’s been over three years and I haven’t seen a single issue despite the high humidity. Definitely worth the switch if moisture has been a recurring issue for you.
