We can't spend a whole lot of money on clothes right now so I am looking for one's that will last a little while.

I just bought shorts and t-shirts - Circo from Target to try those.

I like the tank tops and t-shirts from Old Navy but the cotton shorts fall apart.

Any ideas. My girls are 15 months and Samantha weighs 23 lbs and Emily weighs 22 lbs, they both started walking.

I usually just stick to Target clothes. The Cherokee jeans that they both wear seem to hold up really well. I always cruise the Target sale racks and find all kinds of great deals.

I also feel the same way about Old Navy. Cute things, but cheaply made. (But that doesn't always stop me from buying there from time to time!!)

I love Gymboree shorts! They hold up to anything and my boys can wear them 2-3 years in a row. I just watch for specials, and pick them up on sale.

The circo clothes from Target wash well, but they do shrink so I would buy a size larger than you need. Especially the cotton shirts and the girls shorts. The Genuine Kids brand at Target is also good. I like Old Navy and think the clothes are pretty durable for the price. Gap has great durability, but it is more $$$. If you have an outlet near you though you can get it pretty cheap. I think Children's Place clothes tend to be pretty comparable to Target.

I actually really like Old Navy stuff for the price and I've had it hold up VERY well...Carters also holds up very well wash after wash - I have tops/pants my son has been wearing for 5 months! BRU usually has sales on Carters stuff all the time

I buy a lot of our clothes at Kohl's. They have great sales. I like the Sonoma brand they have, and they also have Carter's, Healthtex, and a few others.

I think Target clothes are good too. We've already gotten some of the shorts/shirts when they were 2/$6, you can't beat that!

I've had good luck with Old Navy and The Children's Place. I'll buy stuff from Target because it's cheap but I don't think they're well made and they shrink A LOT.

I buy a lot of Carter's clothes at an outlet store nearby, but I will also buy Carter's on sale at BRU.

I shop the sales racks at Gymboree and The Children's Place - I think their clothes are very good quality, but expensive, especially Gymboree. The Children's Place has really great sales every few months where everything is $4.99 or less. Gymboree offers these coupons called Gym Bucks every so often, where if you spend $50 you get $25 off your next purchase of $50 or more. So you get $100 worth of clothes for $75.

I also shop at Target often, and I agree with a PP about the Circo brand - it runs small. I also think the Cherokee brand runs small sometimes too.

I get a ton of life out of Circo from Target and the WalMart brand. I really don't like to spend anymore than $3 on a piece of clothes for them. My boys are all rough and tumble and these clothes have lasted very well. I don't know much about jeans, though, as my ILs bought the boys a bunch of carter's jeans and these have also held up very well. Most of the time they are in t-shirts and sweats though from Target or WalMart and they've held up just great. I also shop at consignment shops a lot. Even there, I rarely by something more than $3-4.

I also find that the Circo stuff at Target runs small and shrinks atrociously -- I usually buy at least 1 if not 2 sizes up on those things, especially the shirts. The Genuine Kids (which I think is an OshKosh brand) and the Cherokee stuff seems very durable and fits well. I do have to say I love Gymboree even through it's spendy -- the quality is excellent and everything fits really well (maybe even runs a little large) and wears exceedingly well. I am well acquainted with their sale rack! Children's Place is pretty good -- I love their jeans and sleepers (though the sleepers I bought at a CP outlet were NOT very good quality AT ALL), and most of their other stuff is decent and well priced. Old Navy I find very hit or miss -- sometimes I go in and see tons of cute stuff, but sometimes I see absolutely nothing. Their stuff does seem to me to run on the small side. (And my girls are on the small side, so if I think it's small, more average-to-large kids are definitely going to have it too small.)

I buy a lot of Gymbo for the girls, also I am hooked on Naartjie now. It can get pretty pricey, but their clothing runs VERY generously so it will last a long time, plus the quality is just awesome. I also love Hanna Andersson. It is very pricey, but the clothes last FOREVER (literally) I have heard people using the same article of clothing on 4 kids and it still looks new. I have zippers from Hanna's that the girls are STILL wearing, and they started wearing them around 7 months. So yeah it is pricey but worth it since you don't have to buy a bunch of new clothes every couple of months. In fact I called the outlet last night and placed an order, a third of the price if you were going to buy online. I have an addiction to buying clothes for my girls, and shoes, and accessories. Lol.

We wear a lot of Old Navy and Target. When I can I run by the Osh Kosh outlet. They offer a twins discount, so it makes clothes very reasonable. I also check garage sales. The twin club in my area just had one yesterday and I was able to get a lot of cute stuff.

I have to say, I thought Gymboree stuff was way too pricey at first, but it really is good quality and is cut big enough so they can keep wearing it. If you shop the sales and manage to get Gymbucks, you can buy Gymboree clothes at normal prices. The clothes also don't fall apart or fuzz up like others do. I also like Carter's for playsuits and pajamas, and Children's Place. I do get some play clothes, like stuff to wear outside or just hanging out, at Wal Mart and Target.

I definitely agree there Kelly! The sales there are really good when the have the "bins" of clothes! I'll go and spend $150 and get a season worth of clothes! The gymbucks help too!

I love going to the carter's and osh kosh outlets. My boys keep outgrowing thier clothes so they havent stayed in the same size for awhile. I buy everything big for them so it can be worn longer. I got bib overalls at the osh kosh outlet last year for $7 a pair and they are pretty much the only thing they can still wear size wise and have held up great.

DITTO - the Target clothes (Circo brand) we always buy a size bigger than what they wear in b/c they shrink up so much.

Most of our clothes are Target clothes, but they do run a little small like everyone is saying. Like mine are both about 24 lbs and I buy 2Ts for them and they fit perfect now. I like Carter's a lot and I really like Old Navy clothes as well. I don't like the girls cotton shorts because they fit really strange, at least on Madison.

For that weight, I would think that 24months or even 2Ts (Circo Brand) will last you quite a while. If you have an outlet close to you, try there. You can really get good deals because they usually have excellent sales!

Agreed! Gymboree has fantastic markdowns starting pretty early on during the season, and you gotta love the Gymbucks! The stuff is great quality in my experience, and I just really like their styling as well -- so many cute details that really make the outfits.

Another Children's Place fan here. I've also gotten a bunch of stuff on sale at Nordstoms and the quality is great. We also use Old Navy or The Gap and Gymboree on sale. I'm not a fan of Carters at all. It's way too wide for my girls and too short...doesn't fit well at all.

We have almost all our Children's place clothes from last summer and it still fits the kids. So we will wear all that again. My kids play rough and get dirty and I just don't like spending money on Gymboree clothes that they are going to get filthy. So I get most of their clothes at Target, Mervyn's, or the Children's Place.

I dress my girls almost exclusively in used clothes. You can't beat the price and it seems to hold up well--the things that fall apart soon after buying them never make it to be used clothes! Most of the used clothes I buy come from the US, we have a weekly flea market and there are dealers who bring truck loads of clothes down from the US, most of the Kids stuff are sorted in price piles, the 10, 20 and 50 peso pile. About like a dollar, two dollars and five dollars. There are several venders and I can usually find co-ordinating outfits if I search the market, and I really enjoy flea market shopping!
I'm surprised to hear Old Navy clothes don't hold up, because I've bought a lot of Old Navy things, mostly jeans and pants. I also find a lot of gymboree clothes in the piles, as well as Sanoma Kids, Carter's, The Children's Place, and Disney items.

DITTO THAT!

I just cleaned out their clearance rack last week. They had all their fall/winter clothing 80% off the clearance price!!!!!!!

I bought clothes for the boys for next fall/winter. I paid $2 for pants, long-sleeve tops, and $3.50 for good PJs (Carters, etc). We spent $57 and left with 18 items of clothing!

Ditto to Target clothes - run small and shrink, so plan accordingly. Their OshKosh brand isn't too bad, though.

We have a few outlets around here - Carter's, Gymboree and TCP. All are pretty good, but sometimes you have to dig.

I buy alot of clothes from Janie and Jack - on sale! They have fabulous sales, clothes tend to run a little big and you can keep them forever.

I also found ebay this spring. YIKES! That is addictive! I bought some high-end clothing for lots less than if I was in the store. Some is used, some new from a season or two ago - but who cares about that, right?

I just bought my first two Zippers from Hanna Andersson last week! I didn't think I would ever pay $38 for a pair of jammies, but if they can really wear them for the next 1 1/2 years, then it's more than worth it! We have traditionally used Carter's jammies, but they can only be in them for about 3-4 months before needing the next size.

I also buy Target...since you can get them cheap. I will buy a size larger...so what if you roll them up for a bit? I do all the time...it will last them through fall. I also get Onld Navy Jeans. They last and arent that cheaply made...the cotton shorts yes, but I think the jeans and jean shorts are better then Targets.

I also LOVE the childrens place. Thier slaes are amazing. The pajamas are great...Im sure moms would agree there....all of thier things are very well made, and last forever....I have sweatshirts they still wear after almost a year since I got them big, 7.99!!! They still look new!!! Plus they have cute dress up outfits.

I also go on ebay and get lots of cloths barely used. I get get a 40 piece lot for like 30 bucks or so....I use them for playcloths and running in the mud!! Some of them are very nice too, and use them for many things.

I get wonderful hand me downs from a cousin who has a boy 1 1/2 older. ;)

I remember when my boys were at your kids' age, they ran out of size very fast. But as they approached age 2, the clothes ran a lot longer. If you want clothes to run longer on them, i found shorts and short sleeve tops are the best. The shorts you can buy at least one size up (adjustable waist style), and they will first wear as capri style, but still cute. The Tshirts are easy to wash and doesn't look big if it is one size up also. Try to avoid buying many long pants and long sleeve shirts because they only fit within a short time, otherwise, they look bad either too big or small. For long pants, I even tried to sew one inch up, and take down later, this is my solution from Oct-April when it is cold outside.

I was just going to add that you can find tons of good clothes like Gymboree, Carter's, Children's Place, Gap, etc online through ebay. I also every now & then hit the 2nd hand stores. One place I went the other day I found shorts from Old Navy, Gap & Children's Place, all for $1 each and all looked brand new. Some of the small 2nd hand stores will take trade; I keep a box for clothes mine have grown out of & when it's full I'll go through and take what I don't want to keep & trade them in for "new" stuff.

I also agree with what was said about Gymboree. Great quality and wear well. We are still able to wear some from last year! I love the different lines which allow you to mix and match and give you many variations. Now that they are older I'm dressing them "similar but different."

Watching for the sales and Gymbucks as mentioned help as well. They resell well if kept in good condition also!

I just have to add, I placed a Hanna Andersson order on Saturday evening and I already got it today! The dresses are just so adorable and for $14 apeice (down from $36) you can't beat the price. I think I may order some more. These will last my girls all through summer and into the fall/winter. I HIGHLY suggest Hanna's. Another good thing about them is they are organic cotton.

I like Target's clothes. Also, Children's Place (my friend usually gets me 30% off coupons). I also like JC Penney's clothes. I'm not sure of the brand but they usually have reasonable prices on t-shirt and shorts.
