My girls are still on 3 bottles (posted a few days ago about something similiar). Anyway, I have been giving them bkft and a snack and they still want that afternoon bottle before their nap. I put them down and they don't go to sleep and cry. So I give in and give it. Should I get rid of the a.m. bottle? We had no probs at all getting my DS off the bottle. They seem to be a little more difficult. And by all means they aren't tiny, both are 19-20 lbs.

    TIA~!

Mine are younger than yours so I dont have any real advice. Do they drink a lot before their nap? It sounds like it maybe a comfort thing? Maybe you could reduce the quantity little by little and see what happens or offer more food previous to their nap? Just some ideas, not sure if they´re any good to you though! :)

I still don't really understand why they would *need* to drop bottles. I mean, they'll transition to a cup eventually, and they'll drink more than three times a day...

I would just let them have it if they want it. I dont see the need to drop a bottle at this point, but that is JMO.

I didn't drop that afternoon bottle yet either by 10 months, I think it was after my dd turned a year when I dropped it down by watering down the milk, but I was transitioning to a sippy cup at the same time so the sippy had the "good" stuff in it and the bottle had the "bad" stuff in it :)

If it makes them happily go down for their naps, I'd say continue giving them the bottle. What does it hurt? They will drop it once they are ready ^_^ It might just be a comfort thing for them

ITA. I would think three bottles at this age is appropriate.

mmmmh, makes me thinking, mine are over 10 months (born @37wks) and they still do 4 bottles, my pedi said it's too early to drop even the 4th bottle.
they take a 7am, 11am, 3pm and 7pm....the 3pm is the one that is now only 4-5oz instead of 7oz like all others...

my babies do not eat much solids yet, I do 3 meals with them and they are still only eating a couple tbsp cereal and split 1 x 4oz jar of earth best 2nd stage. my girl now starts eating a bit small pieces of fingerfood, but very little. my boy still starts choking on real food and so it will be a while for us.
my pedi said the average milk intake still should be 28-34oz in 24 hours....
