Whew! She's gone! (Mini vent, long)

My Grandma called last week and wanted to come down to 'help' with the babies. Keep in mind she hasn't changed a diaper since me, 29 yrs ago, and even then not well according to my mother. So I knew she wouldn't be of much help, but I love my Gma, yknow?
She about drove me bananas with worrying over EVERY LITTLE FREAKING THING!! I know there's a lot to watch out for with babies, but lets be calm, please! According to her, they were too hot, too cold, choking on their bottle nipples, choking on lint from their fingers, poisoned by the dog's breath, going to fall off the changing table (not even close to rolling over yet), going to suffocate in the boppy, going to get food poisoning from an hour old bottle, and the kicker: going to die of carbon monoxide poisoning because we were waiting in the car for LESS THAN 5 MINUTES for my husband to arrive!!!

I'm exhausted from reassuring her every 5 minutes that everything was ok.

She unloaded the dishwasher once in 5 days. Everything else she was afraid to do because "you have your own system and I don't want to mess it up." Sigh.

I didn't get any work done this week either because I had to 'visit' with her the whole time or she'd come around to stand behind me at the computer....

Thanks, just needed to get that off my chest! From now on I won't bi+ch when my MIL comes to help - at least she really does help!!!

[IMG]Poor granny, I am sure she means well, but it is so tough to have someone WATCHING your EVERY move, and criticizing it too! Glad you are back! [IMG]

Your Gma is like my Mom. That was the kind of help I had and found it more work than help!! Glad your back and you can "poison" your kids in peace.

I had to laugh at your post! I just got back from grocery shopping with my grandma. She came along to "help". I love her a lot, and her pushing the second cart was a help, but shopping with two babies, a four year old and an 87 year old is really tiring! I had to buckle all of them into and out of the car. I had to help all four of them in and out of the car (actually, the four year old was better about it than my Grandma!)

Bless you for having her actually come to help!!

Angel, Sara, too funny! I could have written the post about 2 babies, a 4 year old and an 87 year old! Last time my Nana came I was marveling on how inept at things she was that my 4 year old could do very easily! My poor Nan. It can't be easy trying to get around at her age.

And isn't it still cute how much they still love us??? [IMG]

Oh no! It's tough when you love somebody so much and all they want to do is help, but they don't help much.

Bless your little granny, she sounds just like mine! [IMG]

Sound alot like my grammy she loves to hold the babies and is always wanting to come over but the twinkies hate being held in one spot to long. She has trouble holding on to them when they move alot. So i feel like i have to sit and supervise, so i can switch babies with her when one is crying. Its only good when one is sleeping with her. I love her tons of course so i know what you mean [IMG]

Erykah, I remember you saying this back on Expecting when we were laughing about how twin pregnancy makes us like old ladies!
