where is their "home base" during the day

I am just wondering because we usually use the bouncy seats as their "safe place" (or where they are situated or whatever you want to call it). This is good for like if we are doing simultanious feedings or if we need to leave the room or whatever. We are not comfortable yet just leaving them loose on the floor. Is that crazy? Anyway, I am just wondering what others do because our dc are not wanting to be confined anymore, they just want to be on their own.

Do you have a pack n' play? If not I would recommend getting one. You can put the babies in there quickly if you need to and they still have space to roll and play. My babies are around the same age as yours and they too have decided that they no longer like the bouncy seats because they are too confining. I also do not like to leave them on the floor when I'm not around because DS always rolls into something and gets himself stuck. So if I need to leave the room for any extended amount of time they go in the pack n' play. Somethimes if I am only leaving for a minute or so and am in ears reach to hear the I'm stuck come help scream I just leave them on the floor to play.

We do have one but since they have tons of issues (for another post) we have not had them use the bassinet in it for a really long time, so we use it as the changing table (their room and changing table is upstairs, far away from the family room). Do you use the bassinet part or do you just put them in it using it like a play pen?

I just put them in it like a playpen and put some toys in there for them to play with. They are confined enough that I can feel comfortable to leave the room for a little bit and they are still content since they have room to move around.

Our kids are a bit younger than yours but we have a superyard set up. The changing table and all that is upstairs and I go up to change them everytime ( which as you know can be quite frequent with two of them ;) ) I leave them in there usually as we have a dog and don't want anything to accidentally happen while I'm upstairs. Or we still leave them in the swings, or the bouncys, but the super yard is where I invision them playing most of the time as they get older. I think I'll get the extension too so there is more room for me to sit in there and play with them.

I have the Bumbo's in the pack and play. Anything outside of the Pack and Play and they can get attacked by the two older kids.

I used the packnplay, bouncies, and swings, a lot at that age for fear that they would get trampled by the older kids!

if your kids aren't mobile, then you really don't have much to worry about. My kiddos used to lurch forward in their bouncies and try to grab at toys on the floor -- that's when I knew they were done iwth those chairs. They started sitting on their own about 5 months, so I would just sit them on a blanket on a rug in our great room. There they would play for quite a long time on their own. This was the easiest time iwth my twins--

at 7.5 months they started to lunge forward to grab toys (a precursor to crawling) and they would fall over and cry to be picked up and put back into a sitting position. I spent most of the month before they began crawling picking them up this way -- so my "free" time went out the door. Now that they are crawling, it's hard to leave them for a minute. So enjoy the time between now and when they start crawling as it will be the easiest time you have.

(oh, my guys got real intested in their toys at this age - if I needed to put one down for a nap, and leave the other one, I would turn over a bucket of toys -- and my son Cole would spend the time pulling each toy out of the box, he loved this. A great time waster :)

We usually lay a blanket on the family room floor and let them roll. Although, they'll lay anywhere but on the blanket. It's like the blanket is the "out" zone and the rest of the carpet is "free".
They aren't big fans of the bouncy seats, but don't mind rolling on the floor.

I had a play gym for them. It was in an out of the way corner and they were really happy to play in, around and under it until they learned to crawl. I put a blanket under it for extra cushion.

We use the superyard too and for the exact reason! We've got two dogs (we apparently like to do things in twos at our house :D ) I refer to it as the "BabySafeZone" And we have our changing table downstairs in the zone, much more convenient for us there! I also have the extension, which you wouldn't think two panels would make a huge difference, but it does. I should add that we don't have our 'ends' connected, half of our living room is blocked off so that gives us more room to actually be in there.
