One of my NICU twins is coming home on Monday and I am trying to get stuff in order at home and I am clueless. We have a coloniol (bedrooms upstairs and everything else is downstairs) and I have the bibs, burp cloths, washcloths and hooded towels in there room, due to lack of space elsewhere, but except for overnight, I will probably be feeding them downstairs. As it is we are not upstairs much during the day. I feel strange keeping the bibs and burp cloths in the kitchen (and there is not much room) but it seems to make the most sense. So I am just wondering, where do you keep the babies' things that are not clothes? Thanks in advance.

Hi. I store most of thier stuff upstairs and every morning when we move downstairs for the day, I bring a pile of washcloths, bibs, diapers, etc and put it in a basket on the end table. We have a pack and play in the corner of the living room and it has become a hamper.

Congratulations on bringing your baby home!!!

We have a townhouse and for the same reason that you mentioned, we keep the burp cloths downstairs b/c we dont want to keep runnin up stairs. Anyways, we keep them beside the rocker in the living room. That's where I mainly feed teh babies. I keep the wash cloths and towels upstairs in our hallway closet only b/c we give baths to them in the bathtub upstairs. As for diapers and wipes downstairs, i have a basket at the end of the couch that they are all placed in. it's like a mini changing table center in that we have diapers and wipes, lotion, desitin, and anything else we might need during the day. I found it easier to do that than run upstairs and leave the babies downstairs when it's just me watching them. Good luck and congrats on bringing home your baby!

We have things everywhere. Diapers, extra socks, bibs, burp cloths on both levels. Their clothes are in their room and shoes, coats, etc are kept in a bin by the door.

Congrats on bringing one of your babies home!!! We also have a colonial and are downstairs most of the day. All bibs, burpcloths, clohtes are up in each of their rooms. The wash cloths are in the hall closet. I have a basket, under a table, in our family room that is filled with diapers, wipes, desitin, etc. that I need for diaper changes, everything else is upstairs. I just don't want a lot of clutter downstairs. I get it upstairs as needed, or bring whatever I need down in the morning.

I had a rolling cart with 3 big drawers that I kept their things in. Diapers filled up the bottom drawer; blankets, burp cloths and bibs in the middle; everything else in top. It really worked well for us!

Ilyse! Congratulations on Eleni coming home soon!!! [IMG] That's great news!

I kept the bibs and burp cloths in a bucket thing (sound strange) that was next to the couch for a while. It held all the cloths and was easy to get to when you were sitting on the couch feeding. Find a place that's close to where you do the most feeding. You'll want a few upstairs near your bed etc.

(I had a whole set up next to my bed! Pump, parts, bottles for collection and each night I would bring a insulated bag up with an ice block thingy in it with either milk I would need or after pumping, put my stash in there so I didn't have to go to the kitchen in the middle of the night.)

    Best wishes!

I keep most everything upstairs. I do have a PNP downstairs with a diaper changing station there. Before feedings I've been running up to grab bibs and stuff, but I think I'll start keeping some downstairs. I also keep burp cloths in my bedroom, the office (where i feed them in the middle of the night) and downstairs. I gather them up and replace them with new ones as needed or when I do laundry.

we actually bought a cabinet for our kitchen (a $50 Wal-Mart Cabinet that you put together yourself)...it has all my bibs, burp rags, bottles, babyfood etc in it - if you have a spare corner it is really convienent!

Congrats on bringing home one of your babies!

We keep a stash upstairs in baskets and a stash downstairs in a basket so they are handy.

In the beginning we had a PNP set up downstairs and we kept the diapers, wipes and extra clothes, burp clothes and bibs in the bassinet section. It was extremely helpful. We also made bottles ahead of time and used the microwave for 15 sec. It has worked well for us. Now we just keep some of burp clothes and bibs downstairs downstairs next to the exersaucer.

We live in a one story, but I have always kept a basket in the living room of diapers, wipes, rash stuff, and when they were younger, burp cloths. [IMG]

I always used a basket that had bibs, burp cloths, and all the things you need for changing them. We have it stored in their bedroom so I just would refill when we needed it. This was so easy just to take the basket where we were in the house.

We also have a colonial and since we spend 90% of our day downstairs, I found it very annoying to have to keep running up 20 times a day. So, I re-arranged one of our downstairs closets and emptied a shelf. Until about 2 weeks ago, we kept all the onsies (for constant spit-ups, "accidents" and meal messes), bibs, burp cloths, socks (for when their feet got cold during the day), towels, washcloths, shampoos, lotions and pajamas on that shelf. We used to bathe them at night in the infant tub in the sink then on the counter but they have become to big and we were afraid that they would bump their head on the corner of one of the cabinets. So, we are now bathing them in the infant tub inside the bathtub upstairs and moved all the pajamas, towels, washclothes shampoos, lotions and most of the onsies back up to their room. If you don't have the space downstairs perhaps you could buy one of those plastic drawer sets on wheels from Wal-Mart or K-mart or some store of the sort and keep that somewhere down stairs with the things you need? Oh, and one more thing. We keep almost all the bibs downstairs like you. It's probably the thing I need and use the most on a daily basis. I think we go through about 3-4 bibs for each of our girls, each day with all the drool and the meal time messes.

We do all of our diapering and changing downstairs, because that is where my 4 year old, twins and I spend the day. So, I have a changing table stocked with everything, including the 1 million burp cloths and bibs. And baby washcloths, I use those to clean their faces after a meal. And desitin, antibiotic cream, aquaphor, baby qtips, nail clippers, comb, cotton balls, mylicon drops, baby tylenol, thermometers. We have triples of all those items, 1 upstairs, 1 downstairs, and 1 for the diaper bag.

I still hike it upstairs a zillion times per day...hauling them up for naps, changing the laundry (ours is upstairs) and gathering clothes.

I keep a folding table of all their clothes and changing pad (diapers, etc.) one downstairs and one upstairs. It really helped since I didn't have the added complexity of worrying about carrying things around. I've found that as of 4 months, I really don't need the tables anymore... but it was a godsend early on.

I actually made room in my dresser. The girls have a drawer and in that drawer is the towels, wash clothesa and some bibs. I also had when they were sleeping downstairs a 3 drawer storage thing in our room that had onesies socks,etc...

So happy you are bringing Ellie home!!!

We do keep things like bibs, burp cloths in the kitchen. you will need them there in a couple of months anyways when they starting eating solids, etc. We have a basement where we play a lot and sometimes I like the fact that I have to run upstairs for something, I feel like I get some excercise in for the day, weight training too when I'm carrying the babies.
