Where do you keep their clothes?

My boys have their own rooms (they wake each other up), but we currently only have a dresser/ changing table in one room. Well that dresser is busting at the seams.

I don't know what to do now? I can't imagine putting laundry away in two different rooms etc. But I don't know what to do with all the clothes either. I could invest in some sort of closet drawers of that is the answer, but I hate to spend the money without knowing.

How do you have your twins clothes set up? What works? What doesn't?

    Any tips?

We have limited space and the girls share a room. We have the girls clothes all together, one dress, two hanging closet organizer similar to this http://www.target.com/6-Shelf-Hanging-Closet-Organizer/dp/B000NBT2PU
I put their pajamas, hooded bath towels/wash cloths, etc in that. We hang their dresses, coats, etch up. I go thru their clothes and get rid of often. Also, since they grow so fast, I don't buy too many clothes that they will grow out of fast.

I also have this in their closet that I put their shoes, etc. in. http://www.target.com/Storage-Cube-2-Drawer-Set-White/dp/B0015E4HIQ/ref=sc_qi_detailbutton

We have 2 dressers in their room and a decent sized closet. All pants, PJs, socks and leggings get put away in the dressers. They are MAXED. All shirts get hung up. Shoes in the closet in a shoe organizer. Then I have all of their clothes for the next season hung up in the closet. I buy entirely too many outfits on clearance for the next season and don't want to put them in bags when I get there.

I have 1 dresser, 1 closet. I have an organizer in the closet so there are 2 hanging racks and 3 shelves. I use the IKEA storage boxes like this http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00115505 for hats and stuff they don't wear every day, like gloves etc. I also use these boxes for stuff that is too big for them - you can label the outside, so I can designate one or 2 boxes per size. I did that because I used to have 1 big bag of stuff that had been given to me, but I would forget what was there and in what size, so sometimes they outgrew the stuff without ever wearing it.

In the dresser, the top drawer is PJ's & socks. Second drawer is shirts/onesies; third drawer pants; forth drawer sweaters. The "cupboard" beside the drawers in the dresser is crib sheets and blankets. I organized it this way because when I put "outfits" together my DH could never find anything, and he never dresses them in anything that matches or co-ordinates anyway :D All dresses get hung up, as do coats. Honestly, I have to go through everything about once a month to clean out stuff that doesn't fit any more, and make sure space is used efficiently. I try not to buy too many clothes, but that can get me stuck sometimes..like now, when we are having a long cold spell in the south and my girls have just about outgrown all of their sweaters, and the stores are full of summer stuff. Honestly, it is February - I don't need spaghetti strap dresses yet! I need a fleecy sweater!!!

    (edited for spelling - oops)

I don't have experience with separate rooms. but we have a wood shelving unit in their closet that I utilize. 3+ shelves then 3 drawers. Since I have boy/girl twins, I have a section for matching sets, then just a drawer for girl shirts & shorts, and another for boy. the other drawer right now is for longsleeved stuff. the shelves are organized and labeled - so that I know (and whoever else is involved)... girl jeans, boy jeans, girl sets, boy sets you get the picture. I actually have their shoes & socks in a 'secretary desk' drawers in the foyer.. seems we put shoes on out there so I had to clear out my wrapping paper to make room.

I like having the bulk of the stuff in the closet, and we just finally figured out how to lock the doors so the kids can get in there! yay!

good luck, the clothes seem to take over!

My boys are very different sizes so I find I have to keep them seperate or I would drive myself nuts. I feel like I am always reorganizing as they grow out of things. Luckily though I haven't had to buy many clothes as Ryan is still in 12mths and gets Christopher's handme downs as he is going into 24mths. But I'm ready to reorganize as Christopher makes the 24mth switch and we get into spring summer clothes.

My husband says I 'over' organize, but I feel I need to especially with their clothes, it's worth the extra effort when we are looking for a short sleeve onsie...

I use 2 dressers...(one for each of them).
I have space for regular pants...insulated pants...and overalls
I seperate onsies-Long sleeve vs. short sleeve and shirts long vs. short and they used to share a sock and jammie drawer but not anymore!

GL! Share what you end up doing....I'm always looking for ideas!

Wow, I'm jealous. You actually put their clothes away? Ours end up in a laundry basket that we pick through each day. I keep telling myself that someday I'll organize them all and put them all away. We'll see if that ever happens. They share a closet and have 2 dressers, which are all mostly empty, except the stuff they haven't grown into yet.

Well my guys share a room (and a dresser and closet), so I don't know how much help I can be. :pardon: I guess if I had 2 rooms I'd divide clothes between them and give them their own dressers/closet organizers. My boys are the same size, but I do have clothes that I think of as particularly "theirs"; Jack looks better in blue, and there are certain clothes that seem to fit his personality better (whatever that means :p ), so I'd split up those types of clothes and divide "neutral" clothes (jeans, white onesies, etc.) evenly between the 2 rooms.

It might be a PITA to put laundry in 2 rooms, but I figure it will happen eventually as they start to develop a preference for what they want to wear.
