Help!!!!!!!!! My daughter gave birth to twin girls on Jan 11th at 36 1/2 weeks. Yes, they were preemies but not particularly small babies
( 5 lb 2 oz and 5 lb 3 oz). They are going to be naked little babies if we dont find somewhere to buy them some clothes that fit soon.
Only thing that remotely fits the girls is preemie size clothes and lots of them are on the big size. The only place we have found preemie size clothes is at Wal-Mart. She doesnt live in a metropolitan area but it is a city of about 65,000 and they have most major retailers. Forget newborn size, we can stick both girls in ONE outfit. For those of you who had smaller babies where did you find clothes for them????? Are we seriously going to have to look at getting them doll clothes???? Is that really an option???????
Two little girls thank you for your advice.

You know, other than what people gave me I didn't find much except at Walmart. That was actually the best place I found for preemie clothes. Mine were a little bigger, though (5 lb, 8 oz & 6 lb, 15 oz.) I also found a few things at Children's Place & I think Gap has some preemie sizes.....they usually have more sizes online than in stores. I don't know, but maybe the nicu at your hospital would have some suggestions?

Also check ebay; you'd have to wait for shipping, but there's usually tons of baby clothes. I gave all mine away, or I'd offer to ship them.

Goodluck & congratulations on your grandaughters!

I was going to say Walmart. Target has some, not as much as Walmart. Baby Depot at Burlington. Someone mentioned in the NICU forum that Old Navy has a preemie line online. I got some things from here and it was free shipping

It's not easy finding preemie clothing, but it does seem like more people are starting to carry it. Congrats on the twins.

I think Wal-Mart is a great option. The babies grow so fast and Wal-Mart is inexpensive. I have bought at Gymboree, Gap and Childrens Place. They have Preemie sizes. My guys are almost 4 months and just grew out of Preemie clothes they were so small!

Wal-mart. Mine were born at 34 weeks and were small. But in 3 weeks, they fit into the Carters NB (not 0-3 months, but newborn) size quite well. They grow so fast, that by the time she gets a few outfits, they will be in the next size!!!

Does your area have a local twins club? Our local twins club has a "preemie closet" that any member is welcome to borrow clothing from.

NOMOTC (national twins club org) can help you find your local club...just type in your zip code.

    Good Luck and CONGRATULATIONS!

Ebay has a good selection. Mostly gently used though.

My preemie twins have clothes from Carters and Walmart. Try Old Navy or searching on the internet. Don't worry you will find some and before you know it, they will be into regular newborn sizes.

From another twin grandma who refuses to shop at Walmart, sadly it was the ONLY place we could find anything. We just got three outfits each as they outgrew them within a month. They wore tons of onesies and were swaddled. DD's boys were almost exactly the same size at birth as your DD's... BTW they are two months old and are over 11 pounds! They grow quickly so don't buy too much!!

We got some as gifts from Wal-mart.
After they were born we realized we needed them ASAP and got some at Babies R Us. But they are a little more expenxsive there and our babies only wore the preemie size for about 6-8 weeks.

I wouldn't buy much. They grow sooo super fast. You will be amazed. Walmart is fine for this stuff. You will seriously be out of them before you know it. I second the onsie and swaddle option. That is what we had to do for the first month anyway for temperature control reasons.

Congrats, I think being the grandma of twins would be the ultimate!!

We got ours at target, babiesrus ( which you might want to buy NB because thir sizes run SMALL ), walmart, and baby depot. The babies don't need that many outfits and will grow quick!!! Congrats on your new grandbabies.

My twins were preemies and we got ours at WalMart however, I think you can buy them online from The Gap and Old Navy, too.

I bought alot of their clothes at Walmart and they were even to big, my friend bought the girl's two outfits from Babies R Us and they fit perfect. I also found outfits that fit them perfectly at Baby Depot. Another thing you might want to try is Doll Clothes.

Yeah, ditto to the others about Walmart. My babies were born at 34 weeks, 4'11 oz and 5 lb 12 oz. They both fit into the preemie for like a week [IMG] Then they moved up to the newborn an I've found those at Target.

Hi, I haven't read the rest of the posts but I found preemie outfits at our Carters store. Do you have one of those? I know you are panicking but I promise, if you just find 3-5 outfits and some gowns you will be fine. They fit into those NB and beyond in a blink of an eye!!

Mine were 6 lbs (went down to ~5 during the first week after birth). We just put them in huge (newborn size) sleepers. A couple of friends did give us preemie-sized clothes as gifts, which they bought at a pricey local store. Those fit perfectly at first, but were outgrown by 8 weeks or so.

I had a couple of days notice that they were going to induce me so I knew I was going to need some preemie clothes. I went on ebay and bought a few lots worth that were ending soon and they were all at my house when the first baby was discharged from the hospital after 7 days. The girls fit in those clothes for 2 and 3 months and I got a ton of clothes in good condition for about $40.
