I want to buy crayons for my girls but I want the thickest ones I can find. Where did you get yours?

Also, anyone know how I can do some sort of finger painting with my girls? Like with pudding or something safe for them?

I could never find finger paints for this little, so -

    Finger paint recipe -
    2 cups cold water
    3 tsp sugar
    1/2 cup cornstarch
    1 TBS light corn syrup
    liquid food coloring
    small bowls with lids

In a small pot, stir water, sugar, and cornstarch. Whisk over low heat for 5 minutes, or until mixture is thcik and clear. (ok, mine normally takes about 10 minutes)
Stir in corn syrup. Pour paint into small containers.
Add a few drops of liquid food coloring to each container, and shake until color is mixed.

Maggie just used the crayola thick crayons, but I think I saw some others in the One Step Ahead catalog. (maybe?)

Staples has these that are good. I also have bought from Staples (although I couldn't find them on their website) Crayolas that are flat on one side. They're basically the fat crayons cut in half length-wise so they won't roll off the table.

As far as finger painting you could do vanilla pudding with food coloring in it.

I got some at Target. I have the crayola jumbo crayons that are washable. I also got some of the crayola finger paint and I think it's non-toxic and washable.

We buy the fat Crayola crayons because they are washable. I've purchased other fat crayons, but IMO, Crayola makes the best!

When they were first experimenting with crayons, we were big fans of Finger Crayons. They are bulky and fit in the fist, which is great for little ones with a limited pencil grip.

I bought some crayons recently from Toys R Us that were labeled "Bigger" crayons. I immediately thought "how great" because they are a little bigger than the big ones I had. Well, be careful if you find them because they are NOT washable!! I found out the hard way. It never dawned on me that they would make them for littles ones and they not be washable! What was Crayola thinking??? Otherwise, the size was great and they had really cool names for the colors like "Bunny Brown", "Kitty Cat Black", and so on. Also, we have used the Color Wonder finger paints.

I recently bought a box at a teacher supply store. The ones I bought are Crayola and are called SO BIG! And yes they are soooo big!

I couldn't find any of the jumbo crayons (well I didn't run all over the place looking, who has the time) so I just wrapped an elastic around three of the smaller crayons and that worked pretty well. I haven't done any fingerpainting yet, so I don' know on that one.
