When you started using crib tents

DH asked me last night what we were going to do when the girls started climbing out -- I said everyone here recommended crib tents, but we couldn't imagine them accepting that without a fight. Doesn't it seem kind of weird or scary to them?

I know the tents are just mesh, so they can still see & hear each other, and they'll still be able to stand up (right?), but they're certainly going to notice that it's different. What were your kids' reactions?

My boys started climbing out of their cribs in the last few weeks. So cute hearing the thump then seeing them walking into our room. Then WHAM, it hits you, then they can get into ANYTHING ANYWHERE. Dh thinks crib tents are ridiculous. <_< So we are getting a tall gate for their room and move them to toddler beds for now. But so far they are staying in their cribs at night (knock on wood!). So I am going to put it off as long as possible (while I look for some of those cute blue toddler car beds on craigslist HA).

    Good luck :D

We have used the tents since the twins where 4 months old. Our reason was more to keep things out of the cribs then to keep them in. We had a spider problem and I couldn't sleep at night thinking they may get bit. So they don't mind the tents. The only problem is the zipper is a little loud so when you put them in asleep and try to zip them up, sometimes they wake up. We love them.

Jon had his tent for the first time at 22 months, and never had a problem, in fact, he really loved it!

We started using them around 19 months or so. No problems at all. In fact, it seemed to help my one son who was going through a period of nightmares. He felt protected and secure in it...and ending his problem.

The cribtents became both of their little camping "tents". They really loved them. In fact it was odd to them when they moved to a twin bed and didn't have them. They said they missed their tents.

I got my first one around end of Jan. Katie never really had a problem with it.
I am on #2...the first one eventually came apart at the seam and she tore it even more.

I need one for Josh as he has been climbing out of his bed for about a month. We have a really big bedroom and our bed is kind of tucked away in a "nook" in the room so I can barely see their beds from my bed anyway they are in our room. It never fails he throws his blanket out, climbs out and comes straight to me. I am really thinking of getting him a toddler bed although I worry about how easily he will go to bed.

I cant get rid of her tent and bed yet, she is my roamer and into everything!!

I put both of mine in tents at 15 months when one climbed out and the other was showing signs of doing the same. They LOVED, LOVED, LOVED them immediately (and still do). I set the tents up initially at naptime and both wanted to get inside. They were so excited and just looked at each other and giggled... they didn't really nap that day but they went to sleep at bedtime without a problem and napped fine the next day. The zipper is pretty loud but we were well past being put down asleep so it wasn't an issue. The tent arcs high enough that standing and jumping in bed is no problem :FIFblush: It also was nice when we went on vacation and brought the peapods because being zipped into bed was familiar.

Conrad was climbing out, so we got him a crib tent. That actually made Nolan FREAK OUT because his bed did not have one, and he insisted on sleeping in Conrad's bed with him until we got Nolan one of his own.

So apparently the jealousy system works! :)

Lily's the only one who has one right now, but it had absolutely no effect on her when we put it on. She sleeps fine, no fear or anything. Sometimes she smushes her face into the mesh and talks to Grace and you hear them both cracking up over it, but that's all that changed...a new "toy" to play with.

I got the girls crib tents right before they turned 2.5 years old. That was after a 3 month "experiment" of moving to toddler beds that resulted in no naps and less sleep at night. They didn't have any problems with them. I actually forgot to zip them up a couple of times and they called me in to let me know. :)
