Jack and Lily are 2 1/2... I bought the potty seats, in case they ever decide to use them, but I'm not a hard core potty trainer. I'm kind of in the mind set that it is a development, and like any other development, it will happen when they are ready. I'm curious about when this happened for other twin parents. If they were on the cut-off between two selections, please use the older answer. Thanks!

    Thanks for your replies!

Anna was actually trained a few weeks after their 3rd birthday, but Ian took MUCH longer. Eventually I had to actually force him. He was able to go, he was just afraid of failing and refused to try. Once I forced him, he was trained in a week. That was between 3 1/2 and 4.

I assumed you didn't mean night training as part of "done potty training" -- if so, then we're not there yet! But I considered them to be "done" when they wore underwear every day and rarely had an accident. Amy was a couple of months before age 3 and Sarah was a few months after (I said 3-3.5).

I was also not hard-core about it. I tried to give them plenty of opportunities to use the potty and some encouragement when they did, but I had no desire to push them over the brink into underwear. I wanted them in diapers until they decided they were ready to do all their business in the potty. It seemed like we were in that limbo stage forever, but when they did finally decide, it was like the whole business was already done.

We have been fully trained during the day since 2 and 2.5. We are still not night trained though. Some nights they are dry, but not all.

I put 3 - 3.5. Abby was potty trained about a month before she was 3 and Gabe was about 3 yrs. 2 months. He had a bit harder time with pooping on the toilet than she did. My oldest trained at 2.5 yrs. old and was a piece of cake compared to them.

2.9 both were day trained and Emma was night trained very shortly thereafter (like 2 weeks). Lauren is still not night trained.

Molly was pee trained (during day) at about 2 1/2, Zach just got pee trained about 2-3 weeks ago. Neither are poop trained or night trained yet. One step at a time!

I voted 2 1/2 to 3 years...however, DS has been trained since around end of June....and DD is just getting into now. DS can take himself to the bathroom anytime, he just calls me if he has pooped and needs a wipe. DD has been very stubborn about it, not caring at all. But yesterday my mom had the twins while I was at work. When DD pooped in her diaper, my mom took her to the bathroom and emptied it into the toilet, saying "Eowyn, that is where poop should go"...and sure enough, she woke up this morning and asked to poop on the toilet! I risked it and put her in underwear and she did great. I sat her on the potty once this morning and she peed! Then she asked to go poop again at naptime...did great, and has done wonderfully eversince! The secret to my success was a bit of bribery...I told her if she used the potty or toilet, then I would paint one of her toenails with nail polish..worked like a charm! She loved the idea.

My older one was trained at 26 months. (Not night time -- that took another few years!)

I actually am a force-the-issue sort of person, but I tried with Karina a few weeks ago, and got nowhere. So even I am recognizing that my little ones need a little more time. :D

I didn't vote because I need multiple choice! :D Alyssa and Bryony trained together at 2 yrs 9 months. Naomi was trained a month before she turned 3 and Luke was a month or two after (I forget).

ETA: I was also talking about being day trained, not night trained.

My dd was trained at 2 years 9 months and my ds was at 3 years of age. :good: I didn't push the issue until I felt they were ready (okay, okay, I did try a few times before they actually got it but I don't count those times :p ) Waiting longer, I think, definately helped things because my dd was pee/poop trained in 3 days and my ds in one day. :faint:

My DD was "fully trained" right after she turned 3. I would not consider DS "fully trained" now at 3.5, he is still have issues with poop, but we are actually seeing if there is a medical issue with that as well.

ETA: I'm not counting "fully trained" as night trained. We aren't even working on that right now and I'm in no rush to, when they wake up dry consistently we'll worry about it then.

Mine are JUST now 2.5 and have been completely day trained (pee/poop) for about a month, and pee trained for about 5 months. We are just starting Nap training and not even close to night-training yet though we've tried a few times and the potty's are in their room.

I started at just over a year (13 months) when I found out I was pregnant again. I didn't 'force' the issue, rather did the same approach as you, just much earlier. I bought the potty's, set them out, let them play with them/on them and get familiar with them, then they would follow me in the bathroom and imitate me, etc....

It really was an easy transition, and had it not been for daycare, they actually would have been trained at 18 months! Darn daycare wouldn't take them to the bathroom though until they were in the 2 year old room.

Zack was fully day & night trained a little after his 3rd birthday. Jack was fully day trained a little after 3 as well, but Jackie still on a night or two out of the week wets himself.
